Do you prefer beans in your chili

Do you put beans in your chili?
I'm a 2 parts meat to 1 part bean ratio kinda guy, don't think they absolutely need to be added, but they make it stretch a little further and gas is funny. What say you cyclone fanatics?
 
Can I have an option of both?

A good midwestern chili is great and I love eating and making them especially on a cold night or a football tailgate. All the different veggies and beans and meats come together for a nice spicy stew. Call if chili, who cares.

A meat only chili is dope and if you thicken it up a bit, you eat it with tortillas and veggies like a classic chili con carne. Or maybe go out to the northeast and make it coney style and slap it on a dog.

Both have their uses, both are amazing and I think the whole "no beans" thing is like people getting mad about calling tex-mex, mexican food.

Just had batch on Saturday. Smoked some burgers the day before and then chopped them up and added a big can of chili beans, two small cans of pork and beans, and a small can of black beans. Add tomato juice, a jar of homemade salsa along with some chopped up red, yellow and green peppers and spices to add some kick. I also added a some sweet pickled hot peppers.

Chili must have beans it it. I'm not a Texas chili guy.

So this monstrosity of chili is what makes people mad about mid westerners calling it chili. No imagination, pork and beans?, adding green peppers for some "kick" etc.

I use dark red kidney beans, black beans, and pinto beans in my chili. I also like Italian sausage instead of ground beef, but I suppose the meat options will have their own poll...
 
I like some beans. Usually the classic 'chili' beans but also some black beans if I have them. A hard no on pork and beans.

I'll even add mushrooms to stretch the meal and they are nice 'cause they're kind of hearty.

Onions, of course!

Sorry I was talking about the spices to add some kick.

After been through a few company chili cook offs, people were trying to win hottest chili, by just blending up habenaros or reaper peppers, adding some meat and some tomato juice which made it chili.

I generally use dark red and light red kidney beans with chili beans. I usually go 50/50 with ground beef and spicy ground sausage. If the wife is up in arms I will go 50/50 with ground turkey and the sausage so she can think it is healthy for her. I brown the meat with chopped white onion. Add in stewed and peeled tomatoes with jalapeno, serrano and habanero or anaheim peppers. The heat varies depending on my audience.
 
Without beans you’ve basically got tomato sauce with ground Tenorman. Pass.

Beans are delicious, but they aren't necessary for good chili. It's like putting a trailer hitch on a Maserati.
