That's a good one. Unfortunately, we lost my father in law in 2020 from early onset Alzheimer's at age 58. Signs were there at age 50, and he was officially diagnosed at 56. No one could visit him with Covid restrictions and he just absolutely tanked. Such a terrible disease, and shouldn't ever affect anyone as young as he was.

Alzheimer’s sucks. Lost both of my dad’s parents to it and my wife lost her dad’s parents to it as well.

It’s not only debilitating to the individual but it can be extremely hard on their spouse/family. To make matters worse, certain regions really lack in terms of quality (and quantity) memory centers and those that are good at what they do can be extremely expensive.

Thanks for sharing this.

Wow! We lost my father in law to Alzheimers last year, a few days after Christmas. He started showing signs in the summer of 2012. We had to move him to a home for the last five or so. Thankfully he never forgot who we were. He was 88. I had never been around anyone with this before. It was hard for me to understand how he could tell me stories from when he was a kid to when he met my mother in law, etc, but he couldn't tell me who won the game we just watched. It was so sad. I first met him in 1995, so he was part of over half my life. I miss him.

Just came across this and a head's up you will need some tissues. Probably the most emotional I've been watching an ad.

You got me with that one. Lost my dear wife 3-1/2 years ago, so I'm alone decorating the house tonight. Thanks Rulzzz for getting this evening started with some serious emotions.

It definitely is a tear-jerker. I will say that that version of the ad is a lot better than the version that they showed on Thanksgiving (which cut off at about 4:45 when the woman is kissing her husband. I'm not sure this one sticks the landing for me, but that cut definitely didn't.

Going full Grinch here.

We're going through this now. So it really doesn't make me feel better or want to buy a Chevy because of this ad.

Prayers to anyone who's dealing with this illness. It is the most cruel way to spend the golden years.

Right there with you. It absolutely sucks. And none of the adults in the situation are dealing with the need for proactive measures. So sooner or later a tragedy will occur.

Also going through this with my Mom - vascular dementia, initially diagnosed almost 7 years ago at the age of 72. She has been declining at a faster rate this fall, though she still knows us, has limited mobility and can still do some things for herself. Every Sunday my Dad takes her for a drive through the country and they get Chinese takeout. Watching what she has been through the past 7 years and seeing what she could've done (but didn't do) to slow the process has made me more aware of & proactive with my own health.
