Hey,

I've only posted a few times on the board, and never started a thread, but I figure this is as good a reason as any for my first. I'm in a club on campus called Hope 4 Africa @ Iowa State, a subsidiary of the non-profit Hope 4 Africa. Our organization essentially tries to raise money for different projects related to bettering education in Africa. Last year we raised 8,000 dollars for text books for 4 schools in rural Kenya, and I had the privilege of going there to deliver the books and look for more projects. One of the things we noticed was how out-dated school is over there. We didn't see one computer for the students to learn on at any of the schools, and everyone knows that today's job market basically requires being familiar with a computer. So, we're doing a project called Computers 4 Hope through TippingBucket.org, which is a great website that facilitates charity projects. We need to raise $2,700 in donations in the next week to get the money at all, so we're kind of going crazy trying to get the word out. We're just asking people to donate a dollar to the cause (if we don't reach the goal, the card won't be charged), but of course if you wanted to, you could donate more. If this is something you're interested in (totally understandable if you aren't, but I might as well try, right?), then here's the link:

and also here's the website for our club and our organization

Thank you so much for even reading this, even if you choose not to donate, I appreciate you taking the time to read this novel of a post.

As an Iowa State student and a member of this club, I thought I would graciously bump this thread. For those of who don't know, Hope 4 Africa is a non profit organization that was started by an ISU student when he was just a 16 year old in high school. He has done many amazing things with H4A since it's inception, and in less than 3 years it has become very successful. If you want to know more about our mission, please visit our website, posted above. TippingBucket is the website that is helping us with our latest fundraiser. This is an all on nothing effort, if we don't raise the $2700 by Friday night, nobody is charged for the donations and ZERO money is given to Ogilgei Primary School. It is our goal to make sure the bucket gets tipped and this does not happen. We have just over $1000 raised at this point, but still need a lot of support if we want to make this happen.

I urge anyone who reads this to think about how fortunate you are to have access to a computer, and how many people in the world do not have this priveledge. I understand not everyone is doing well financially in this economy, but the main point of this project is to prove that many people can make a difference in the world with one small donation at a time. $1 is all it takes, that is all our organization and this website ask of our donators. Just consider giving up a soda or candy bar for one day to children who need hope more than you could imagine. If you want to donate and most importantly spread the word to others, we at Hope 4 Africa, and many children halfway across the world will be extremely grateful. If you took the time to read this, I thank you, and hope that you will support our cause.

thanks bennett.

i want to stress, if we don't get to $1350 in the next 2 days and 7 hours, nobody's credit card gets charged, and we don't get ANY money. seriously, we would appreciate any donation at all. it's a REALLY easy process to donate at TippingBucket.

if we pull this off, it would not only be amazing for Ogilgei Primary School but it would be huge for hope 4 africa and especially our club at Iowa State. we are becoming more prominent on campus and if a small club at ISU can manage to fundraise this much on this short notice, it would be really impressive.

any help would be appreciated.
thanks!
