Its amazing how much better the defense looks when you get even the slightest pass rush on the QB. There were plays when Gilbert would have all day but there were also huge plays created by the D-Line like the interception/fumble (i don't know what it was ruled because i was going nuts) and the final drive texas had.

Even a little bit of pressure upsets the timing of a play. We saw that all day, even when they weren't close to sacking the QB, making him move out and find another spot changes the timing. Either Texas is used to never having anyone get to their QB or they just plain didn't game plan for ISU being able to do it. Their offense was out of sorts most of the day. Our Defense played great.

The pressure was good all day (great by our recent standards). The sack on Texas' final drive basically clinched the game. It make the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th down plays so much more difficult.

WE NEED MORE OF THIS! Great job by Lattimer and even Maggit.

is it just me or do the defensive ends lose contain a lot? they did a great job today but they also lost contain a few times and it seemed really obvious on the 2-point conversion Texas picked up

paul rhoads said before the game that texas has the best offensive line that we've played so far. great job d-line

Gilbert did a good job of avoiding the rush all game, but that's just the point. There was a rush he had to avoid.

I'm willing to give up containment on occasion if it means getting pressure on the QB. We've played far too many games this season where the QB has had all day to find a receiver.

Unlike some of the other conferences the Big 12 has QB's that can pass and run, so it will always be difficult. Sometimes you need to sell-out in order to get a rush.
