Things I took away from this interview:
A. The returning starters, especially the seniors, are a cohesive group of leaders.
B. Even so, if Trevor Downing keeps doing what he’s been doing, he’ll break into the starting lineup. Did I hear that right?
C. Good-Jones has put on twenty pounds of good weight since last season.
D. Colin Newell is going to be very, very good.
F. The second team is all doing well.
G. ...with the corollary surprise, Sean Foster is finally putting it all together?
H. The freshmen all look good—which bodes well for 2020 and beyond.
I’ll also note Coach Myers’ mention that at one time, the OL room was down on themselves, because they had the reputation of being the team’s weak link. Which was true, I just never considered how that would affect their perception of themselves. However—as in other areas on this team—that has apparently made a 180 degree turn.
Oh yes, I’ll finish with one more observation.
H. Coach Myers is as good at his job as any other coach on this staff.
Yeah, I know. Shocking, isn’t it?
