CF Ownership Question

Re: Does Narcisse own CF?

I run CF as I always have and always will. Jon is providing the resources for the interviews and content for CF Extras and some funding. By having Jon provide the funding and resources for CF Extras, we can provide bonus content for those that want it while still being able to run CF as a free message board. I think if everybody understood the tremendous expenses I've dealt with out of pocket for CF, they'd understand that CF Extras helps keep everything free. So in regard to the question; Jon does own partial ownership but if he didn't, we wouldn't be here as the costs are greater than I could continue on paying by myself. The "change" has been in effect for about two months and I think everybody would agree that things haven't changed for anything but the better around here.

I personally don't have any bad feelings towards any of our Cyclone brethren and would prefer to keep things on the positive note going forward. Regardless of what people think about Jonathan, Steve, Paul or any other person in this business, it's important to focus on what we're all trying to do; spread the Cyclone message. I have respect for all parties involved with ISU on a business level and would hope that everybody understands the place each of us has in helping to make ISU's new endeavors a success. Just as the athletic department needs funding to operate. so does CF.

Jermey, you are running this site. What you do, and how your run it is your business.

However, I do have a couple of questions that are fair to ask.

After this change, who has a majority ownership in this site? Is it CF?
While you run it, do you work for them at this point?

Thank you.

Good point and good questions.

Most people have no idea the time and money commitment (especially time) that a site like this requires. It's a full time job. I use to own a member site with over 15,000 members and I finally had to sell it to keep it from ruining my family life...... and I was even pulling down an extra $10K a year from it.

I run and operate all aspects of the site just as I always have. To say anybody else runs or administers the site would be 100% incorrect. I've custom programmed much of the site and obviously have no desire to leave CF in the hands of anybody else. Jonathan owns a majority stake in the company but that really only matters as far as profit & expenses goes. I have complete say in what goes on here and how the boards operate. If I didn't feel comfortable having outside help from Jonathan, I wouldn't have entered into the agreement as CF's my baby and it means a lot to me. I started it from scratch, spent thousands of dollars to make it what it is and wouldn't trust it to anybody.

So a direct answer; I don't work for anybody, I'm a co-owner. I understand the desire for people to understand this but I think everybody that reads this thread is going to take things out of context and blow it out of proportion. The truth is that I run this site but have to have some financial backing or it'd close down. Jonathan has money and a desire to strengthen the Cyclone brand and as long as I agree with how things are going, I'll keep CF running as it always has been.

If I ever don't like how things are going and a rift were to start, I'd simply quit and start CF2. That's how much you guys mean to me and you guys have aboslutely nothing to worry about. If anything, you should all be celebrating because CF has funding to stay free instead of thinking up new ways to make money just to survive.

Quick Facts:

CF costs thousands a year to operate
CF has brought in NO profit
CF has cost me thousands
I sold a part of the "ownership" to help ensure CF's future as a free message board
CF Extras is obviously completely optional, although a great feature
"Ownership" only means so much - it's the members that really own this site

Good info Jeremy and it sounds like a win-win for the Cyclone community and you. And you were spot on when you said....... "it's the members that really own this site."

No problem, just trying to help everybody understand that there really is no negative to this and it only helps ensure things run smoothly and that I can keep putting new features and enhancements in place without worrying.

Just to reconfirm, that really was the Big Story that was alluded to for months? Or was it the sale of your house?

Great work, Jeremy, this website is really a keeper. I especially like how you bring in the other Cyclone sports like hockey and volleyball.

Would like somewhere on the front page to see a scoreboard reminder of the "8-1 HyVee Cup Series." Ha-ha.

The big news was the CF Extras audio & video features. It's been a great thing so far and it'll only get better as we incorporate more sports & programs into it.

Have you had a good signup?

I'd encourage everyone to signup if they have $5 per month extra. Its definitely worth seeing whole interviews/press conferences instead of reading 1 or 2 quotes in the newspaper.

It's understandable that some people don't like him, just as some don't like Steve or Paul or Me or just about anybody. I would encourage all members just to use the same language and mannerisms towards all real-life persons and we won't moderate any differently for anybody's sake.

Anyone (except the staff and players) that thinks we're winning the North this season deserves any flack they get.

Just sayin'...

What? You don't think we're winning the Big XII this year? I hope I can get a refund on my plane tickets to Texas! Arghhhh!!!!! :) All in good fun!

Pessimist. You aren't a true fan then. Have some faith.

This is how people who predicted 3-4 wins this year were treated this summer. I call it realism.

Yeah I remember getting chastised for predicting 3 wins. Lots of neg rep, lots of people saying I had a loser attitude. I just call it like I see it, that is why you all pay me to be here.
