CCL info 6/20/10?

i can only guess....

Half the guys show up 30 minutes into their game... then proceed to jack up 10 threes each.

But its still awesome and I cant wait to make a couple games.

Yeah, I went. Was mostly the same as last week. Didn't get to see Bubu/DG's team though because it was the first game and I got their after the 2nd game had started. Got to see Babb and Anderson though. Liked both. Jake can definitely play the point; more so than Phillips. As others have mentioned, Babb has good size; legit 6-5 and long armed. Definitely give him the size to shoot the 3 over people even in B12 play. I did make an observation; this is not a good venue to see Babb excel. He hangs out by the 3pt line and works to get open. Kinda pointless cause the play is very selfish; lots of one-on-one and he stands there wide open and no one passes him the ball. He did take a view 3s and made them. Just not the kind of game that will showcase his talents.

The intensity of last weds really wasn't there tonight and people didn't seem to be hustling in transition, etc.

Other notes:

Ejim seemed to be winded several times in both halves of his game. I mentioned this last week and it happened again. He plays essentially the entire game. Most other players get rotated in/out but not him. I know his team is a little short handed but seems weird that he is the only one playing the entire game for any team in the league. Not complaining though, frankly I think all the experience from here will only help him.

Phillips was pretty much the same as last week. He is very athletic. Come to think of it he played more PG this week than last. Not very effectively though, IMO. His first, second, and only thoughts are to take his man off the dribble and penetrate into the lane. He can do it most of the time too (get by his man); just not what I like to see in a PG.

Eric McKnight was here again tonight but didn't play and had the boot off. I didn't get a good look but it didn't seem too swollen or anything. He was dribbling and moving on it a little bit but taking in easy which is good. I would think sometime in the next week or 2 he'll start playing.

The new walkon John Lamb went on one hell of a shooting streak. He hit 4 in a row at one point from everywhere on the court. Looked like sully part deux (he is white and about the same size). The crowd started getting into it and Josh Young seemed to take it personally and started dogging Lamb to try and shut him down. Sorta worked; Lamb really, really had to work to get open. But he did end up making another couple of baskets before making a final 3 right at the end of the game. I think he had 6 3pters and probably 22 pts or so: in the 2nd half alone !!!

I've been watching some of the other players and really like the Karl Madison kid from Drake. Some people here have talked about Lefty Moore who played at ISU a long time ago and this kid reminds me of him. Not real tall; may 5-11 or so. Left handed, like really, really left handed; but smart. doesn't make mistakes, finds the open man, will take and hit shots when left open. From the outside, midrange, and even in the lane. Just a good all around player.

Thanks for the breakdown!

Scotty told me last year that sometimes before the CCL league games they may have already played about 2 hours of bb earlier in the day and lifted wts. too. So if some guys appear to be dogging, you know why.

Watched most of the first game...DG and Bubu versus Scott C and Jamie. Really turned out to be quite entertaining as the final score was only a two point difference Scott and jamie won...

Both DG and Bubu were not afraid to drive it to the rack and took every opportunity to do so. As the game wound down DG really turned on the hustle. Both DG and Bubu went to the foul line a bunch. Thought it was a good sign.

Scott played a good game...shooting, driving, dishing. Scored at the rim and at the three point line. Good off gaurd rebounding. Keeps his motor running.

Jamie was Jamie...an occasional rebound...likes the 3 point line...doesn't like to mix it up much. Did hit a couple of threes that were of the "You stupid....good shot" variety.

Watched about ten minutes of Demarcus versus Babb and Anderson before I had to leave. Demarcus also did a pretty good job of driving and had a pretty good handle. May be challeged early on for palming/carry....early on Rayvonte Rice (Drake) tried to shoot everything he touched so Demarcus was somewhat limited.

Too early to tell with Babb and Anderson...steady but really nothing stood out.
