Carr vs. O'Toole video replay

That split position O'Toole uses when you've got one leg is tough to beat but Carr seems to have it figured out.
My thoughts only, but I feel like after the loss Carr took at NCAAs last year, he has studied/worked to find ways to score regardless of the defensive tactics used by opposing wrestlers. When Sheets (OK St) tried his usual "wrestling from the knees" approach a few weeks ago, David was still able to get takedowns in a way that I don't think he was able to in the past. I'm guessing he recognized a gap in his own skillset and has put in the time to fill it.

What’s crazier as that if you watch some film on him, he can score in an almost a heart beat from there.

Carr is an amazing athlete in top-condition who is very well-coached, has done his homework on opponents, and is so smart with regard to what is happening in a match and how to accomplish what he wants.

I listen to that FLO and knew right away Ben was going to come out saying it was going to be easy to correct everything while putting it in a way that O'Toole lost it instead of David winning it. Also found it comical that they all said with 100% confidence that Paniro's takedown wasn't a takedown.

My 3 cents:
- All credit to David. I thought moving to 65 was a mistake and his best shot at more titles was at 57. He improved his skills and turned his body into a 165 pound monster. Love to admit I was wrong here.
- On Flo, I thought Ben came across as almost pouty & sad, knowing his star pupil might be done winning championships. I like Ben (just read his book) and he usually gives ISU some credit but it's different when it's his boy getting whooped up on.
- I'm not the expert some of you are, but I didn't think PJ had a takedown in OT and would have been shocked at a reversal. The review was ridiculously long and I think Paniro lost whatever momentum he had after that.
- Still love this team but have a hard time seeing us contend for a trophy given our injuries at 25 and Casey's midseason injury and resulting struggles.

Thanks for posting that. I only got to see snippets on the jumbotron at Hilton last night.

What was up with the Ali Shuffle in the middle of the second period? That seems like something that would be frowned upon in the wrestling world. Anybody have any idea why he did it? Other than the fact that he is David Carr and he can do whatever he wants!

Also, how impressive was his riding in the third period? I was really surprised that O'Toole couldn't get out. Was that because Carr played it so well? Or was O'Toole just gassed?

A match like that may deserve its own thread for discussion!
I'll never claim to be an expert, but the one time that O'T seemed to have a legit chance to escape, he seemed more intent on getting a reversal than just getting his 1. I bet he handles that differently next time around.

All the credit goes to David. He was the better wrestler, and the separation is going to make O'T and company have to do more adjusting than I'm guessing they were planning on after this one.
