Today a young man came to our door apparently in order to solicit money for "caring for combatants." He told my wife that they used the money collected to send care packages to troops over seas. She clearly was intentionally given the impression that it was a charity telling her that had two brothers in the navy overseas but i dont know that he said the word. He told her they had a web page. She gave him $10 and he wrote her name down as well as that the money was going to the navy. He didn't give her a receipt or anything of course. She never asked for one. He went about his way. My wife has a traumatic brain injury and although she usually is good about sniffing out stuff like that she's more vulnerable to being taken advantage of than she would be otherwise. i was suspicious to say the least. I looked them up and they are based out of Des Moines. Website says they are a for profit company that sends "independent contractors" door to door. Obviously they are for profit so they don't disclose how much goes to actual care packages so I'm sure it's likely close to none. Anyone run across this group or know anything about them?
