Hey guys, I have Canon XL 1 video camera with all the bells and whistles I need to get rid of...really don't want to use eBay, any ideas would be great.

Has it got the feature that stabilizes the video as you move with the camera so you don't get that herky jerky effect? That would be sweet.

For that, you need more than just IS. You need something like a steadycam (which run around 50k), a DIY one that you can build cheap (like this: $14 Steadycam The Poor Mans Steadicam) or something in between like this; HAGUE CAMCORDER STABILIZER HCS3 .

IS will help you in terms of keeping it steady while your hand shakes, but nothing will overcome the physics required for smooth motion (yet).
