I was reading/looking at the photo essay on CNN.com regarding the Chicago Sun-Times laying off their entire photography department. CNN commissioned one of the laid off photographers to do portraits of all of the employees holding something they thought was important to them. I can't link to the actual photo, but I'm pretty sure that is an ISU football player and a coach pleading on his knees to an official. See photo 11 at the link below.

Can anyone tell me more about this? Also note that the photographer holding the photo is named Buzz Orr...

Looks like Walden but there are way too many people in the stands for that to be a game from the Walden era.

Two thoughts: First, that is really damn embarrassing that a coach would do that. But I guess "embarrassing" is a good way to summarize the Walden era. And second, it's hard to believe that both the atmosphere and the crowds were so bad in relatively recent history. We owe a lot to McCarney, Rhoads, and Pollard for really turning things around.

i think the best part is at 1:10 in the video, you can just see the photographer kneeling, taking the picture on the very left side of the video

This game was Walden's last win as coach of the Cyclones, as they lost to Nebraska and Colorado to finish 1993, and went 0-10-1 in 1994. Exit Walden.....enter McCarney.

Wow, I knew we won that one, but didn't put into perspective it was his last win. It was a nice upset, though.

It was very cold that day. I remember it very well. Was quite funny when they led the streaker up the south endzone ramp, very slowly without giving him any covering.

It games/crowd shots like that that really make me appreciate some of our more "vintage" fans who have stuck through the good and bad times.
