I’m tired of hearing about the process. If you can’t figure out the special teams you have an enormous problem! This is disastrous!

2022 Kansas Loss By 3
3 missed field goals
Let a punt land inside the 1
Run into a returner well before the ball is caught
Bad snap on extra point
Let a return get to midfield
Drop a punt

Others that come to mind:
2021 @ Baylor - Missed FG, lose by 2
2020 @ Oklahoma State - 2 Missed FGs, lose by 3
2019 Iowa Debacle, lose by 1
2019 @ Baylor, miss 2 FG, lose by 1

I’ve called this stuff out the last 2 years. Our lack of awareness, concern, or giving a single **** about special teams is what has really kept this program from being elite.

We have JJ Kohl committed and his dad runs the Kohl Kicking Camps to rate high school kickers/punters/long snappers. Surely we can get him on board as a special teams guy?

This isn’t going to be a popular opinion and I agree the special teams needs work. But what happened today that was on the coaches?

Noel muffing a punt? That’s on Jaylin

Missing 3 fgs, all were make-able with 2 out of 3 being inside 40 yards? That’s on the kicker, the protection was good.

Bad snap leading to a 2 point conversion. That’s on the center.

Not very many kickoff coverages today but only 1 good return, that could be in the coaches.

They didn’t give up a good punt return.

Believe me I’m sick after today but…

Rehire Kicking whisper Joe Houston…

His résumé Alabama and New England Patriots since he left ISU.

Track record with kickers is phenomenal!

Agree, but I question how often this is stuff that is practiced. If Jaylin is only catching a punt once a week during practice for 10 minutes, which I feel is about right with how we look, then that’s coaching

That is something we obviously don’t know but I believe it’s his first muffed punt isn’t it?

In no way am I going to be upset with Jaylin, I love the kid.

But the muffed punt, not knowing when to properly fair catch/let a ball go in the endzone, running into returners before the ball is caught, letting your punter kick a ball at the 10 and seeing it roll in which didn’t happen today but has happened multiple times this year

Collectively tells me we do not emphasize this incredibly critical and important part of the game

I don’t like our offense at all, but I think we desperately as a fan base need to point out the flaws of our special teams unit. We need a DRASTIC organizational change for how we attack special teams. It is not a Kansas issue. It is a damn near every Campbell L issue.
