Burton's minutes

Don't understand it myself. McKay is bad, Nader is bad 3 out of 4 games. Burton should be in the starting lineup.

Agree. He was the only one playing with any fire tonight. The team was better when he was in and McKay was out. McKay has let the knee thing get to his head. He's less aggressive above the rim.

He was working for rebounds at least.. When you have one person matching the Cyclones total rebounds, anyone puttin forth an effort should be out there

Burton has to show some consistency on defense. Half the time it looks like he's either not trying or he's a 5th grader who doesn't understand defensive positioning at all.

I haven't been keeping track or anything but it really seems to me that we play better when Burton is in rather than McKay.

I've thought this as well. His hustle brings the team up a notch. Meanwhile, McKay is jogging down court with his hands in the air complaining to the ref.

McKay has no hand strength - like a baby. Get him some stickum - lobs or rebounds he lost all night. Nader looked horrific, Georges was a turnover machine, MM is dead legged, and MT was way off. Burton was a beast and he is not greatest defender but saw several guys "defending" with arms up 3 feet from the ball. Player shot right over them. Spacing is bad - FT shooting is pathetic - is there a coach who teaches FT shooting? We need one bad. Team is heading in wrong direction and no fire or grit. Conference title is a super long shot - probably gone now. Man what a disappointment to watch that chinese fire drill. Glad signing day is tomorrow - take focus off this current downward spiral.

Burton >> McKay right now.

This is really bugging me, and it's all on coach. Burton may not play the best defense, but he's seriously not that much worse than anyone else. He also hustles for rebounds, is a good ball handler, can shoot, and doesn't turn it over every touch he gets.

Why Burton isn't getting 25+ minutes per game right now is baffling.

Matt Thomas let his guy go by him as much as anyone tonight.

Matt Thomas was typically guarding WV's best driver on the perimeter. In today's college game staying in front of someone is more of challenge than ever given perimeter fouling rule changes. Defense is not as simple as not letting a driver get past the primary defender - it is also about the secondary defender and that is where ISU defense most often breaks down. Thomas's defense has been fine.

If you are looking at productivity on the offensive end and on the boards, it is not even close - Burton well out out-performed everyone. I mean, the guy had more rebounds in 16 minutes than any other player in the game. Given the deficiencies of the team in this game as it progressed, it is hard to come up with any reason why Burton would play 16 minutes.
