So I am heading the game tomorrow down here in PHX with a buddy that is also a big Clone/Bulls fan. We got some pretty sick tix right behind the Suns bench.(pays to have connections!) We both have waited for the last four/five years to see D Rose play in person and of course with five min left last night he rolled his ankle. Hopefully he plays.

Anyway, we started talking about the match-up of Freddy vs Horny and I started thinking...has there been a match-up of NBA coaches that both played at the same school? I am sure there has been but we couldn't come up with anything. Can anyone think of any??

My girlfriend and I are planning on going as well. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see two Cyclone legends coach against each other. It would be cool if the Alumni Association could put something together before of after the game and try and get both to swing in and say hi.

Rooting for the Suns and Horny, just cause I can't stand the Bulls and not even Dreamy makes a difference.

Johnny will be smiling tomorrow. His tree lives on. Hope they give him some love in the coverage

Yeah, sounds as if Rose is doubtful. Either way looking forward to seeing the two coach against each other.

Yeah, I'll suffer through this broadcast maybe until the end of the 1st quarter to see if ISU gets a mention at all......otherwise, I'll have had enough by then.

Turning to Hawks and Oilers, mentioned ISU briefly but no mention both coaches played for Johnny Orr or anything like that.

If the OP reads this thread during the game.....do something to make yourself seen on the broadcast. You know, something short of running onto the court. I've seen a guy sitting near the Suns' bench wearing all red and yellow, including a red and yellow hat, but they haven't had a close enough shot to see whether it's ISU gear.

You must not like good basketball.

I've never watched more than a half of an NBA game in my lifetime and never more than 1 game a season if that. At the start of the season I was somewhat looking forward to trying to be an NBA fan this year and follow the Bulls. After Hoiberg's first game I new it just wasn't going to happen.

As I'm suffering through this game, I've been trying to figure out what makes it so incredibly boring. Here's what I got so far: 1st off and most importantly, it sounds like they are playing in an empty gym. There is ZERO atmosphere. 2nd the gameplay is just different. I'm not sure what it is yet. It seems like the players don't give a ****. All the movements seem slow and there is a TON of standing around.

I hate the NBA. Just cant stand it. Its boring to me. I know they are the greatest players in the world. Just that the college game there is so much more atmosphere. Every game seems to count way more. You live and die every game. The ending tourney is awesome. I just cant get into the nba. I tried.

I'll third the no atmosphere comment. I like the bands and the chants and the crazy costumes. I went to dozens of Wolves games growing up and looking back I realize it was just a bunch of businessmen at games. Boring.

I don't know 95% of the players, especially the foreign guys (compared to the NFL where I at least have a passing knowledge of most of the skill players and what college they went to, etc).

Just can't get into it. Just can't do it.

I'll counter with its the best coached, most well played basketball game you can find. With the best shooting, passing, and overall game plan.

Oh, and atmosphere? I'm confused. Are you arguing that ISU and a few of the top programs have better atmospheres? Well, so do some of the top nba teams. But go to Iowa city and that is the same as the Hornets. Oh, and the nba plays 82 games. Do that to college and see what happens to the atmospheres.

Watch the nba shoot and watch college shoot. Then tell me who is better. Let's start there.
