Very nice value for late in the first round. SEC player of the year as a sophomore. 6-11 with 7-1 wingspan. 18 points and 9 boards. Definitely didn't get much help on the Arkansas team. Will be a good role player for a playoff team.

Fred spoke pretty highly of him last Fall. I remember he was the one guy that stood out that we had trouble stopping.

Coach Thibodeaux won more games in the past 5 seasons than all previous coaches in 12 seasons since Phil Jackson for the Bulls..

Not a fan of Portis. I thought he looked stiff when we played him. Wasn't really smooth at all. Most of his points came off a VERY slow release jump shot that he got away with because we didn't have anyone over 6'7" on the floor. I don't remember him really showing many actual post moves or dominance around the rim. Not to mention Niang ate him alive defensively.

Granted, I didn't really watch Arkansas play outside of our game, so I could be way off on him. I just wasn't THAT impressed with him in our game.

I definitely remember him hitting tough shots with people in his face. He had NBA all over him to me....but I was always near the top of the balcony, so who knew what I was seeing.

8-10 with 2-2 from three, 19 pts, 8 rebounds. The only weakness I saw is that they didn't feed him enough. Oh, and he couldn't defend Georges.

I don't think anyone is suggesting he didn't have good stats against a team with little size and average at best defense.

Good pick for late first round, but there are reasons why a big guy that can shoot like that went late first.

He is a good post player who can shoot. Plus, he's only 20 yrs old. Solid pick for late first round.

I think you're way off. I watched him play a few times. Looks like an NBA guy, moves like an NBA guy, can shoot from more than 10' out. I think he's going to be a stud, and would have been regardless of who drafted him.
