I’ve put asphalt shingles on my house three times, the last “25 year” shingles lasted 8 years. Put on steel this fall and wish that I had done it years ago. Love the look. Big 2 story house with dormer off master upstairs. With insulation, have not heard a thing when it rains. Increases value of house.

Regarding water lines, avoid having the main feed to the house run under your driveway. When the soil settles you avoid/minimize cracking in your concrete pad/driveway.

Yeah, that happened to me in my first house. But instead of my driveway cracking, it was my PVC water line that cracked.
