Since our WBB Cyclones are tipping off tonight I did a check and saw the Townsville Fire has started their season in the Women's National Basketball League in Australia. Bridget is averaging 11.5 PPG and 5 REB through 5 games.

Julie Vanloo of Belgium is on the team Remember us attempting to recruit her? Never worked out for us or her, thanks to the NCAA. Australian Abby Bishop, who spent some time with the Seattle Storm, is another name I recognize.

Maybe ironic-- but our best player from North America is now in Australia playing and one of our former top Aussie's is now living in the U.S.

Lynx Coach Reeve was in Ames for our game with Texas when the DSM Register caught up with her and asked her about Bridget Carleton. Interesting comments. Wondering how trying to make a WNBA team next year ties in with playing for Canada in the Olympics next summer? Canada has played themselves into an almost automatic berth.

Edit: Had to look it up and refresh my memory. The league takes a month off during their season on Olympic years. in 2016 26 WNBA players were in the Olympics, five from the Lynx alone.

Bummer about the Olympics. Bridgett will have to wait another year to fulfill for goal of playing for Canada in the games. I wonder if they will redo the qualifying of teams?
