I'm posting here for three reasons.

1. This news has its historical significance and it deserves its own thread and more attention.
2. The Pro Sports forum has far more traffic than the WBB forum.
3. The Pro Sports forum is not just for discussion of male sports/athletes only.

Huge congratulations to our Bridget for being the first-ever Iowa State women's basketball player to participate in the Olympics. Bridget's #1 goal is to become an Olympian and she's been working extremely hard to achieve it. Now your dream has come true, go live it to the fullest.

Note:
Before Bridget Carleton, there were three former ISU men's basketball players participating in the Olympics. Jeff Grayer (Team USA 1988 Seoul), Raúl Duarte (Team Peru 1964 Tokyo) and Tony Rampton (Team New Zeland 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens). If Monte Morris makes Team Nigeria's 12-player roster, he will become the fourth MBB player to go to the Olympics.

Has anyone stated/referenced that it is for males sports/athletes only? Just wondering…

The news is cool though.

There's no rule saying this forum is for male sports/athletes discussion only but the reality is very few female sports/athletes related topics are posted here. Most female sports topics are posted in the WBB forum but they can't generate enough interest or traffic especially in the offseason. I'm a fan of both men's and women's sports and I think more female sports-related topics are worthy of attention/discussion in this forum.

I don't want to see this thread derailed to a male/female sports/athletes debate. My only intention is to share this exciting news with more Cyclone fans in here and show my appreciation for Bridget Carleton, who's one of my top 3 favorite ISU WBB players of all time.
