MLB: Brewers Fire Manager

Saw this on facebook, and it's true...

Forget Roenicke, The Brewers must fire GM Doug Melvin. Back from 2002-2005, the Brewers drafted Braun, Fielder, Hardy, Weeks, Hart, and Gallardo. Yet in the past 10 years, Doug Melvin’s Brewers:
--Have drafted and developed just 1 above-average player
(Lucroy) out of over 400 draft picks.
--Have not developed a single quality starting pitcher. None. In ten years.
--Have now had 27 consecutive 1st and 2nd round picks never play a single major league game for them (!!).

Craig was a hell of a ballplayer for what he was working with.

I think he was more solid with a glove than a bat iirc.

I really like Counsell, but I hate the firing of Roenicke right now. The front office were the ones that thought we could be contenders with only a couple of off-season transactions. The lack of a high quality ace and the lack of offensive depth is NOT Ron's fault. It certainly wasn't the manager's fault that Lohse would begin the season pitching so poorly, and that Lucroy, Gennett & Gomez would almost immediately find their way on the DL. BUT, it's a business and someone has to be the fall guy.

So I guess Roenicke is now available to be hired as the next ISU baseball coach. (Just making a tentative list in case).

That's not quite true. I am looking into it and our 5th starter Jimmy Nelson was selected in the 2nd round in 2010. But that's the last guy we drafted to play in a major league game for Milwaukee. Last one before that was 2006 1st round RP Jermey Jeffress, who appeared in 10 games in 2010, and has been in our bullpen in since late last year

I "liked" this post - but not because I like it, but because the truth hurts and it shows just how poorly managed (by the GM, that is) this organization is. I hate the Cardinals with a passion - only because they are a central division rival - but I wish our organization had at least half of the GM competence that they have. In that area, the Cards have my complete respect.
