BREAKING: Georgia PG commits to 2020 recruiting class

It is interesting that they took him -- we only have one notional spot open now.

I agree. Not really a big time recruit. I trust Prohm on Point guards for sure though. Maybe just started coming on and we were the first to get in on him. We only have one but you know that will go to probably two and possibly 3.

It seems the staff has really moved towards the diamond in the rough model. That works for small non-power 5 programs because it has to. Not real sure about the long-term efficacy of it for a program at our level though. Seems strange we have to rely on these types of "undervalued" "blowing up" "diamond in the rough" types.

Would obviously love to be wrong. This staff just doesn't inspire a lot of thoughts of upward trajectory in the national conversation.

Yeah, that is where I am at, too.

We are in on some higher echelon guys for this class, and not to pick on Mr. Walker because I definitely trust this staff, especially on guards, but he is not ranked up there.

So I conclude...

-- Prohm sees something here, like he did with Haliburton... and I trust his judgement
-- Jaden is about to blow up, and we got him early and can work on others now
-- Haliburton is going to go to the NBA after next season
-- Jaden matches his physical profile, and I bet they want another lanky guard like him
-- probably more attrition after that... not that I want it, but it happens

So you lock this one up, and you still have 2-3 de facto spots for the big fish.

I presume the above is the strategy, and that seems reasonable enough to me.

Way too early to declare that imo, and that’s also assuming its efficacy is as problematic as you suggest.

One could just as easily say this staff is landing more top high school recruits than ever before, while also continuing to hit on solid transfers like the previous staff, finishing off with some diamond in the rough types that have ended up being some of our best prospects.

The diamond in the rough narrative is always more for fans than coaches, particularly when it’s just late summer.
