I will be moving to the Boulder area later this month. I was just curious if anyone knew anything about the area as far as apartments, night life, and interesting things to do there? Any information is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Well I moved here about three months ago. I actually live in a place that is just northeast called Gunbarrel. Its not quite as nice as living in Boulder but its cheaper and the apartments are bigger. I was looking right when students were coming back so your apartment search will probably be more limited in selection but with a better price.
Boulder is an AWESOME place to live! There are some surrounding communities that are really booming as well. Longmont, Louisville, and Broomfield are all cool places as well. It tends to be a rather pricey area. Pearl Street Mall is home to cool restaurants and bars and "interesting" people as well. I've always had fun there.
If I were to move back to CO, it would either be the Boulder area or Fort Collins area.

such a stupid generalization! how often do you talk politics with strangers? Colorado is just fine for real conservatives as well. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE IN BOULDER...and I am VERY conservative.

I agree you can be conservative in CO. In fact CO is almost a red state. If it weren't for Boulder and Denver CO would be a red state.
Denver would be pretty easy to live in no matter what as its a pretty mixed city. Boulder on the other hand is a very liberal city. I am not saying you couldn't live there as a conservative just that you would have to a pretty tolerant conservative.
Just for the record I am very much in the middle. I hate taxes and love the environment.
BTW hope this makes been drinking some Asher beer. Pretty tasty for those of you who live in the Boulder area.
Definitely, you have to like riding your bike, support environmental causes, and celebrate other cultures and ways of life to do it right in Boulder.
Been away from the area for 8 years, but hit the Flat Iron Mall and Gordon Biersch, good micro brew.
jbclone10- an early welcome to the greater Boulder/Denver area.... I'm guessing you've at least visited out here in the past so you're aware of the amazing landscapes and scenery right out the back door.
First off, don't let the stereotypes people portray on here get you. I've read a lot of comments on here with ridiculous generalizations such as the "hope you're liberal" crap. The area is a melting pot for the rest of the country, you'll meet people from all across the nation and world here. The political spectrum is wide here, yes there are liberals, but there are also conservatives, and a lot of libertarians or people you just can't generalize, which is probably frustrating for most people since americans are programmed to just box everyone into a right/left paradigm (for example, I have a friend who is a vegan but owns numerous handguns and rifles, including an AK-47). People say Boulder is a hippy town, but true hippies can't afford Boulder, and the real ones are up in Nederland, Jamestown, and Ward. It's more of an audi-whole foods-north face type of crowd anymore.
So for things to do: the better question is what isn't there to do. Denver has it all... 4 major pro sports, a great performing arts scene, great restaurants, bars etc... Boulder has several microbrews (as does Ft Collins, which is to me, on equal par with Boulder)... The recreational opportunities are boundless here.... ski/snowboard, rock climb, hike, mtn bike, road bike (amazing trail system just in Boulder alone), kayak, ice climb, mountaineering, camping, fishing, backpacking, nordic ski, snowshoeing, the list goes on. Outdoor recreation is huge here, and can be a bit overwhelming at first.. but you get accustomed to it.
Other great aspects of living here are the great mass transit system, the RTD bus system is fantastic, I use it everyday between Boulder and Denver. There is light rail service under construction (but still quite a ways off). You can have a lot more access to direct, cheaper flights out of DIA than anywhere in Iowa.
As mentioned by others, there are a lot of great little communities surrounding Boulder that are cheaper to live... check out the Horizons apartments in Superior as an example. Louisville is a fantastic little town too (rated #1 place to live in 2007 or 08, can't remember).
AND... the best part, you get to see ISU football every other year, and ISU hoops and volleyball every year right in boulder!

You could say that. I know both conservatives and liberal that are not particularly tolerant of each other. Boulder tends to be very much on the progressive side of a lot of things.
