Boston Globe article about Hobbs trade

I think it is asinine that so many of the fans are still harping on the Plaxico Burress catch in the super bowl. It was a perfectly thrown pass to a 6'5 reciever who specializes in the jump ball. Not many corners could have stopped him. It was a bad defensive call to have man coverage on Plax (former Steeler, permanent dumb-***) in the first place.
Hobbs worked his butt off for the Pats and they really never appreciated him and I am sooo glad he is no logner on that team. Philly is one of the few teams I like fron the NFC and I now have another reason to hope for a Keystone state superbowl this year.

Didn't see it posted elsewhere, but Hobbs was on Outside the Lines show on ESPN yesterday doing an interview. He was pretty complementary of the whole thing and also mentioned he is finishing up his Art Design degree right here at ISU. Got a little pub from it, so I don't think he's harboring ill will against State.

I totally agree cyhiphopp. I mean, the final score was 17-14. Where was that heralded Patriot offense for the entire game? I'd love it if an Iowa State defense ONLY gave up 17 points.

It's sort of like people getting all over ISU' place kickers for missing field goals that cost the Clones TWO outright Big 12 North titles. Those guys should have never been put in that position in the first place.

It was a good pass, great catch. I think the only thing Hobbs should have done was take him out before the ball ever got there. Getting a pass interference call at that point would have been better than a touchdown.

Hobbs came off like a good guy in the article. The things he said are exactly what any team would want their guy to say. He explained things without getting personal and kept things on a level that suggests that he understands that it's all part of the business.

Exactly right. What was the spread in that SB? Wasn't it a record? The Pats lost because they believed their hype and slept on the Giants. Ellis broke his *** for that team. I would love to see the Eagles go all the way and for Ellis to get a SB ring.

This is the MO of the Patriots. They don't ever believe in paying big money for players. (except quarterbacks)

I guessed Hobbs was up for a new contract after the year before I even read it in the article. The Patriots knew they would not pay him his worth so they got something out of him before he became a free agent and they lost him for nothing.

Not surprising at all if you pay attention to how the patriots run their business. Obviously some of the fans posting on that article don't know much about their own team.
