Just saw on Twitter that Bob Feller passed away around 8:15 p.m. tonight.

"Rapid Robert" ...the 1st MLB pitcher clocked over 100 mph. And certainly a true veteran to his country. I remember my grandfather telling me about the times he'd stop at Bob Fellers house in Vanmeter, and delivered their bread. This was before he got into baseball. R.I.P.

"Heater from Van Meter" passes away.

What a great career Bob Feller had in the golden era of baseball.

Home grown in the state of Iowa. RIP

This does suck. I had the pleasure of being able to get to know Mr. Feller back when I was in little league. He was friends with my coach at time. He, on more than one occasion, taught me a lot about pitching and how to throw a curve ball properly. He was one of the nicest persons I have ever met. This is a sad day but he lived a wonderful, long life. I will cherish my memories and the few photos I have of him and I.

R.I.P. Bob Feller!

When I go to sign into the funeral book I'm going to charge the family $25.

My grandpa tells me stories of playing against Bob when he was at Van Meter.
Says he threw 95-100 in high school there.
My grandpa is proud to tell the story of his 3 hits off of Bob in the
district finals.
RIP Mr. Felller.......you were a great man!

I was really sad to hear about his death. My wife took the news harder than I did since she is related to him. Rest in peace Bob!
