Now that everything is official, I will actually comment on it.
First and foremost, I'm excited as a fan for such a quality commitment. Although theres more to football than just recruits/transfers, this doesn't hurt either.
With that said, I have my worries. I'm sure he will pan out to be a better player than we we've seen around here in awhile, but it also seems that even some of our fans weigh too much on these guys. But who could blame you. When you land a calibur player like that, you're more than anxious to see them play and have them make an impact. But what if they don't, what if they slightly struggle and don't come out lighting up the scoreboards like we all hope?
It seems to me, but its not unjustified, that every fan base expects great things from players before even seeing them touch a football. Why not right. A high touted high school recruit at one time should be able to explode in the college ranks. I just hope that everyone still understands that this is a rebuilding program and that is a variable that impacts every players performance.
Now that the not so positive comments are made, how about some positive ones. I'm just as pumped as the next guy. The size is a great mold for such a position, and hopefully the ability will show as well. It definately takes more than one man to make a team, but when you look at the group of players that the coaches are pulling in, it sure does make a die hard fan a little gitty. It's a shame that he has to sit a year, but its the same for every player, its just having the patience. The timing seems to be right too. With Scales and Bass gone, he can make for good competition with Robison and a nice 1-2 punch in the backfield if they share.
