Yes, for those of you who have been sleeping, Bill Snyder is back! Kansas State has announced they are scheduling three future games against University of Texas San Antonio. You say you have never heard of University of Texas San Antonio? That's because the program has yet to play a college football game. A perfect scheduling match for K State and Bill Snyder, don'tcha think?

I don't think Snyder's pud non-conference schedule will work out as well this time around. But our non-conference needs to be a little more like theirs instead of what we face the next few years.
 
Lets hope they lose. That could be funny.

yeah, god forbid we play any real competition.. it's much better to play the cupcakes, barely slide into bowl eligibility, and then get pounded by a team that didn't need to half-*** it to get to the bowl

*edit: not saying that's what would happen to our team, I'm just saying that's the only scenario where playing cupcakes "helps"

K-State is a disgrace to college football. What will they do next.... petition the NCAA to allow them to schedule games against high school teams? :biglaugh:
 
UTSA, please beat K-State's ***. Bill Snyder is a pathetic scheduler, doesn't let his teams play any decent competition til the conference.
 
This kind of stuff has to catch up with him. The lower tier teams arent so lower tier anymore.

Anytime K-State loses I am happy. Bill needs to head back to the nursing home. God.... he was old when he retired but man he looks like he is pushing 100 now.
 
I have to laugh at all this Snyder hate. I happen to think he's way past his prime to do anything now, but he made K-State into a national power by beating the Big 8 and Big 12 big dogs, plus Pete Carroll and USC.
If all he did was beat the little sisters of the poor, K-State would never have been ranked, much less in the top ten like they were for years...
 
Not to mention our own Chris Williams wanting us to schedule more like KSU!

It has its' pros and cons. I'd rather play one or two cupcakes to start the season and then have some good OOC competition (Iowa fits this bill every year) before Big 12 play starts.

Northern illinois is usually a happy median... so was Uconn about 7 years ago...
id say Northern Illinois, UNI, and Uconn are all average teams. ISU cant predict up swings of talent in teams that weve played since ive been in school. and if we cant beat those 3 teams more often then not, we dont deserve a bowl game, and we def wont make it to one against anyone with a pulse.

Would Cyclone fans laugh at finishing the season ranked in the Top-10 6 out of 8 years, and in the Top-20 7 out of 8 years? How about winning the Big 12 North 4 out of 6? Sign me up for whatever plan Snyder used to accomplish that success.

Hey, don't be ripping on the University of Texas San Antonio. They have to be a quality opponent since they beat the Hawkeyes in basketball.

I agree, ISU fans poking fun at Snyder is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. Let's see, he only took a program that was possibly the worst in all of major college football and went on to have more success in a decade than ISU has had in a century. What a clown, look at him, loading up on jucos and playing a soft schedule. What an idiot. I would much rather go 3-9 every year here in Ames but do it the right way, because we are so much better than Snyder could ever hope to be.

Seriously though, when you aren't an OSU, Texas, USC, and you don't have a long and storied tradition, piles of money, and a huge local recruiting base, you have to get creative to win. Snyder did it with jucos and a soft schedule. Leach did it at TT with a gimmicky offense.

Our position in the college football world today isn't much different from KSU pre-Snyder. And the place we would like to get as a program probably looks a lot like KSU under Snyder. So why the hell would we want to sit here and laugh at how the man works? Shouldn't we be looking at how we can take what he did and use it to fit our own needs?
 
The problem with Synder was: he continued to shedule weak teams when they were a good team. It kind of ran its course. But I have no problem with him scheduling cupcakes this season, K-State now are not K-State back 10-15 years ago anymore.
 
I don't fault Snyder for building K-State the way he did the first time around, they were a bad program and it worked out great for them. I just don't think he can pull it off again given his age. And I never said I wanted K-State's caliber of non-conference opponents, just something a little easier than what we have the next few years while we're trying to build our program. We found out 7 years ago that U-Conn is now a very good program when they manhandled one of our Seneca led bowl teams. Throw in teams like Iowa and Utah in the same years and we have one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation. We don't need that while building the program.

we don't need it, but it helps our case on the way to the national title game if there are a couple other undefeateds with us... obviously
