Honorable Mention (listed alphabetically by school):

Ryan Spangler, Oklahoma; Le’Bryan Nash, Oklahoma State; Jonathan Holmes, Cameron Ridley and Isaiah Taylor, Texas

* - Unanimous Selection
A tie in the voting created two honorees for Freshman of the Year

Thanks. Not sure how Hogue isn't at least honorable mention but the rest sort of makes sense.

How was Perry Ellis a unanimous selection? Niang >>>>>>>>>>> Perry.

This one was a headscratcher for me as well. Shoot I'd put both Foster and Niang as more deserving of a unanimous selection than Perry Ellis. Otherwise, hard to argue too much with all the choices.

Maybe not at the end of the year, but he's really the only logical selection for preseason POY. There's just no one else you can argue at this point.

Yeah, I agree with you on almost having to slot him in there preseason wise. However, by the end of the season, if WVU ends up in the bottom half of the conference which is relatively likely, no matter how good Staten performs (I think he'll be impressive regardless), my guess is he has a hard time winning it.

I wonder what the over/under for LeBryan Nash was to stay at OSU for 4 years, 5 star kid if I'm not mistaken wasn't he?

I'm surprised about this as well. He was talked about as a one and done at the beginning of his freshman year. Then Smart over-shadowed him the past two years.

Again, big12 Kansas favoritism at its best with the Perry Ellis unanimous selection.

I'm sure voters thought, how can we not slate 1 Kansas dude in for preseason All-Big 12, and he was the best option available on the team. Shoot, did he even start all of last year?

Staten will be PotY if wvu is good because he fills up stats, if not insert star player of top team.

BDJ and maybe Morris have as good a chance as any of the hm guys.

Nash is the lone Top 10 recruit from 2011 still in college. Most assumed he would be long gone until they actually saw him play in college. Heck, Tarczewski and Poythress are the only Top 10 recruits from the Class of '12 still in college.
