I know we have Robert Jones coming back next year and Tre King coming in is 6'8" but we loose most of our size next year. Does anyone know what the likelyhood that Kuntz and Conditt come back? I don't think we have much for open scholarships for bigs. Do we have any other recruits on the radar to play the 5?

Typo? I'm not sure he'd appreciate his name being spelled that way

With the transfer market the way it is today, I would be stunned if we don't get a big man transfer. Having a future NBA pg on our roster in Hunter would be very enticing to any big man who loves to run and dunk.
I want Race Thompson to enter the portal and for this to happen.

Yea, it will be no reflection on ISU or TJ, but we all need to recognize the reality that 2-3 players will likely transfer out. Just the name of the game now. Conversely, we should have plenty of opportunity to fill any holes in the transfer portal.

Agree with others that we need a 3 specialist. Give me a Mike Nurse or Scotty please.

Tre King is a wing player, I think the staff sold him on being Brockington. But we'll see.

Honestly I think we'd be happy to have everybody back. We'll see after the season.

Pretty sure Kunc was always expected to be here 2 years. Not sure about Conditt.

The incoming freshman Watson is 6'-8" and can probably play the 4.

Ideally we'd get a 6'-10"+ transfer, but there aren't very many of them to go around and EVERYBODY wants them. Worst case is we'll have to roll with Jones, Kunc, Enaruna, King and Watson. I think we'd be OK with that. There are only a couple teams we play every year that have a true threat inside and we might struggle to rebound against without more size.

If any of the current senior bigs come back for an extra year I hope it’s Kunc. I love Conditt and he bleeds cardinal and gold, but man, that guy makes the dumbest fouls sometimes. King is going to be a stud

King is not a wing player, at least definitely not in the same way Brockington is. Sure, his highlights have him scoring a fair amount in the mid range and from three. But they also have quite a bit of him scoring on offensive rebounds, posting up, being the roll man, and sitting in the dunker spot.

Offensively I could absolutely seeing him fit in the 5 spot, but giving more ball handling and scoring versatility than Conditt and Jones have had this year. Defensively I think he probably fits best as a 4, but he might be able to play the 5 a fair amount as well. He's listed at 6'7" on the roster, which would be shorter than any of the current big men, but he's also 235, which is heavier than everyone but Jones (Jones is 245, Conditt-234, Kunc-215, Enaruna-220).

In regular terms he's a redshirt SR.
Redshirted his first year, then played the next 4.
So I'm guessing he has his covid year of eligibility left??

Looking at his RS FR year, he may be able to have that count as a RS too. Only played 9 games.

A skilled big would be good, but those don’t exactly grow on trees. Roster as of today (not counting any seniors who could return)!

Tre King - F 6’7
Caleb Grill - G 6’3
Tre Jackson - G 6’0
Rob Jones - F 6’9
Tyrese Hunter - G 6’0
Jaden Walker - G 6’5
Tristan Enaruna - F 6’8
Eli King - G 6’3
Demarion Watson F 6’6
Tamin Lipsey G 6’1

If Kunc and/or Conditt return it’s not as crucial but definitely could use some size.

When we are talking about big men, are we talking about a back to the basket offensive big? Because that's what I think we kind of need. Kunc, while big, isn't that kind of player.

I think condit gets an unfair deal on here but whatever.

What this team needs more than anything is a consistent shooter.

I agree with this, big man for the '23 class would be a much bigger deal to me.

We know King will be back, Jones is a lock as well IMO, Watson could end up in the mix at the 4, so give me 2 out of Conditt, Kunc and Enaruna and I'd be content if we had consistent shooting/scoring from the backcourt.

It's really hard to speculate without knowing who will be taking covid years and what their plans are, the guards we bring back would impact this a lot. It's impossible to know how many scholarships we'd even have.
