I think Drake is going to go 4-0 again this year. How does that happen? A big ten and a big 12 team should not be getting owned two years in a row by Drake.

They have a good, established team. They have excellent coaching.

Why is it so hard to give Drake a little credit?

ISU will be fine. We have a new coach, tons of turnover in players.

I couldn't care less about what happens with the big 10 school in the equation.

It probably has to do with the fact that with our resources, Drake should NEVER have a better team.

My question is not meant to take away credit from Drake. Why is it so wrong to expect a big ten and a big 12 team to be better than a Missouri Valley team? I realize Drake is by far the best team in the state, but Iowa State and Iowa should have never fallen that far. Iowa State lost by 35 and Iowa lost at home to Drake for the first time in decades. It is embarrassing enough to lose to Kansas by 35, but Drake doing it is something else.

Tom Davis did wonders for Drake, and it is rare to be able to pass baton to another coach with the same coaching style. Drake had an ideal situation with Tom Davis's son. Congrats to them. I am just impatiently waiting for the return of Iowa State basketball. I expect it soon, and hopefully soon will be by next year. I expect to beat Drake at home and at least be competitive when playing them on the road.

When UNI was busy beating up on Iowa and ISU just a few years back, people were giving mad credit to McDermott and the UNI program. That is why we now have that coach. When Drake hired Tom Davis, they knew exactly what direction they wanted to go. Now maybe we should give his kid what is owed. It could very well be their turn in the Valley this year, with So. Illinois not looking so hot. What Drake did was go through a process that has resulted in success not seen in Des Moines for a long long time, when Curt Smith electrified Drake to near .500 records. The key word here is process, which many on here choose to ignore when they get upset about losses.

Im not justifying a 35 point drubbing, but Drake this year is not your typical Drake team. Drake has found a way to succeed, but it took some time.

Well I guess we should never count on beating anyone else in the Big XII then - by that reasoning.

I think what hurts the most is that Drake has beat us 2 times in a row and one was a woodshed event. Drake cost a lot of money to go to and you have to be somewhat of a student to play there. Also they play in oversized 4A gym. That would be my reasoning why we shouldn't be losing to Drake. By having the logo Big 12 and playing in Hilton should be enough reason to have not fallen of the face of the earth. I think we would finish in the lower half of the valley, Moutian west, MAC etc...this year. I think his point was its just wrong...
On a brighter note. We will get better.

I wasn't talking about the Big 12, but our facilities are falling behind in the Big 12, and we can't spend on the same level as some of these schools, and look, we've been mediocre or worse. We haven't been competing in the Big 12.

There is only the Big 2...ISU and iowa. Even when Drake had Lewis Lloyd I did not think of them as an equal. I will never think of puny UNI as an equal!

"puny"?!?! They've kicked out butts lately. Not only Basketball but Football too!

Gotta hand it to both programs who in Drakes case has ramped up and in UNIs has maintained quality. Both things EIU & ISU have failed to do lately.

The up-starts deserve respect until we beat them on the court or field ... and definatively.

Really can't say it any better!

Maybe it's just me, but I'm of the opinion that if we as a fan base are pissed that we get treated like a little brother by an in-state school then we as a fan base don't have the right to treat the other in-state schools like we're being treated by the first in-state school, especially when the other in-state schools have pretty much owned us the past couple of years.

You guys are free to pay homage to puni UNI and Drake all you want...as for me, I choose to not do that. Thank you very much.

Then I don't want to hear you ***** and moan when you're treated that way by the EIU fanbase.

I don't like hearing people **** and moan about it regardless of the situation. Some people's skin is way to thin as ISU fans. Who gives a crap what other people say about us?

Frankly, I don't give a crap what hawk fans say (if they can speak intelligently enough to be understood) or think (if they do any thinking at all)!
