ISU men shocked nearly everyone outside the program w/ their runner-up finish in the conference meet. Picked for 4th and mostly 5th- ISU scores 77 points (the lower the score- the better) and edges out 25th ranked Texas for 2nd place behind National Title contender Oklahoma State (33 points). Mo Hrezi 7th, Marty Coolidge 14th and Ed Kemboi (coming off of surgery last spring) 17th place. Five Cyclones finish in top 20. Nice job Coach Smith and team!

Women going for 3rd straight title right now. Coach McDonough's first Big 12 meet as a Cyclone.

Women blow away the field with 35 points, runner-up West Virginia had 104. We placed four runners in the top 10, and all seven in the top 20. Nice little dynasty for the women going here!

Awesome. For the men the coach in the fall Olympic preview on cyclones.com hinted they were aiming for a top 3 finish. For the women this is great too considering all they lost last year.

Congratulations to both teams for exceeding expectations given the graduations and coaching change. Amazing team efforts!

For the women, an added bonus is that Samantha Bluske ran for the first time this fall after wearing a boot earlier in the semester. She was the #5 runner in 15th, with the other 2 close behind in 16 and 17. The depth in the 5th spot could be huge for regionals and nationals. Plus, if she is healthy now, she has the talent to move up considerably, as she was among ISU's top runners before injury.

On the call-in show last Monday, Pollard said the women were gunning for 1st (of course) and I think he said 4th or 5th, maybe a shot at 3rd for the men. Good job all around!
