As an Aggie this is a sad day for me. There was so much hope of going to the SEC amongst the Aggie fanbase that this seems like a kick in the gut. A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma are all set to make $20 million or more each year, while the remaining teams will make between $14-17 million, while staying in a BCS conference. Texas is also set to launch a Longhorn Sports Network which is set to bring in 3-5 million per year.

And you posted this on Cyclone Fanatic why??? Be prepared for a lot of negative posts...

Why would you want to go to the SEC and get pounded every year?

(see Ark)

It's a sad day for A&M if you graduated from there. Apparently you can't tell the difference between A&M forums and a Cyclone one.

Well the first benefit we'll see is that we'll have a bowled in endzone by 2015. I'll worry about some of the other things later.

I was actually hoping you guys would leave, so the Big 12 can add a new team to tell you the truth.

I think A&M might have done OK. Texas kids who want to play Florida, Bama, and LSU every weekend might have appealed to some.

I highly, highly doubt it. That money is going to probably go into coaching staffs and paying competitively to try to position ourselves better so when this happens again in 2 years, we're hopefully in better position.

It's breaking news here and I was just stating my claim, which I know won't be the popular one here. Texas now fully dominates the conference, which is what they wanted all along. In the SEC, every game is nationally televised each week. Hopefully, the Big 12 will have the same agreement. Arkansas has been in the SEC for 20 years, and although they haven't had the greatest success, they have won 4 division titles over that time period and they dominate out of conference opponents.

Yeah and you would become irrelevant in the SEC.

It sounds like A&M is going to make a **** load of money. Why are you guys so ******? You would get your brains beat in by the SEC powers. In the Big 12, you just have to knock off OU and UT?

Just have to knock off OU and UT????

Meh. When you're on top, everyone tries to knock you off. Which I'm sure Coach Rhodes has in mind.

Let's hope you can get excited about your team and coach, and let's have a great Big 12 (or whatever the name will be) with the teams that want to be here!

I don't think we're talking about 17+ million per school (average) to NOT be on TV, FWIW. I think we'll all be happy with the amount of TV coverage when we hear the details.

As opposed to just having to knock off Florida, Bama, LSU, Georgia, etc, that's not too bad.

There are less true powerhouses in the Big 12 (10?) right now. You have the Top 2, who are inarguably the most successful by a mile, then 7 more who have had various flirtations with/level of success in the Big 12, and then Baylor who has never even APPEARED in a bowl since conference inception.

Glad you will still be in the Big XII.. A&M is one of the best venues to watch a game and the fans where very hospitable to the Cyclone Fans.. Long live the new Big XII !!!

I hope to make it to a Cyclone game here in the next few years, I've always heard about the tailgating. I hope the Big XII does stay together, but Texas ruined the SWC, and has damaged the Big XII. I wouldn't be surprised in 5 years if they were looking to leave the conference again.
