Big 12 0-3. Did our Entire Conference have an inflated opinion of themselves?

I don't know. Is the Big 12 really not as good as we thought? Or did Baylor & ISU believe they could coast in the first round, against a 14 seed, and just not come mentally prepared to play today. As for Texas, I think they played about the same as they have all year, so no surprise there.

Chris and I talked about this the other day. I thought one of two things. Either the Big 12 teams would be toughend up by the conf season, or they'd collapse. Chris said collapse and that's exactly whats happened. They simply beat the crap out of each other.

I think it's some of overlooking teams, some of being worn out from the Big 12 season, some of off nights.

Personally I'm not one to discount the entire regular season because of tournament performances, but it's hard to argue a conference was really good when they struggle in the tourney.

I really don't think the Big 12 was as good as people think from the very beginning. Plenty of evidence to tell you in November and December.

It's been going on for over a decade. The B12 hasn't done much of anything in the tournament outside of KU in such a long time.

Add in the fact that KU has won 11 straight regular season titles, even with some less than spectacular teams, and I will assume this conference is overrated until it shows a trend that we can do some damage in the tournament.

The first cue that the league was overrated was when KSU, who was horrible, beat OU twice, KU once, and us once.

That shouldn't happen to the top 3 in a strong league.

We lost to the worst team in the SEC because they made us uncomfortable. That was another good indicator.

This, Maybe Oklahoma can still make a run. They have the talent to do it. Kansas is playing home games in Omaha so expect them to win a couple.

We **** the bed. Enough said move along.

I didnt watch the other Big 12 games so can't comment but from what I hear diarreaha has become the conference.

That being said it was still a great conference and the teams just flat out **** the bed.

I think it might be worth considering how the games were called as well. Looking at the box scores, very few fouls called in all 3 games which took away some of the offensive advantages our teams had. I mean we drew what, 3 fouls each half that werent intentional?

Thats pretty insane (and the lowest total number of fouls we have had called against an opponent all season, even with the intentional fouls included), and we were called for right at our average (15) amount of fouls. We also shot our lowest number of FT for the season, 7, had we shot anywhere near our normal number youre adding points onto the board.

I fully believed that everyone involved never thought that we could lose this game... until the clock went to under 10 seconds... This is why I think we lost. Not hungry. Everyone just expected us to win including the players.

Well, it was a pretty disappointing day for the Big 12, but you can not discount what happened during the conference season, and all the wins outside the conference. It appeared to me that ISU just had no legs on their outside shots. Naz just did not look comfortable taking open shots.

The really sad thing is that there were a lot of good open looks in that game, and they just were not falling today. I didn't think UAB was defending great. They just collapsed well on the drive and waited for ISU to brick another 3 pointer.

Big 12 has the LEAST strategic leadership of any conference. This goes for football and basketball. The way they schedule regular and post season leaves the teams drained and depleted. We are always at a disadvantage.

Conferences like the Big 10 optimize schedules so that everyone gets to play enough cupcake games to get the maximum number of teams in bowls/NCAA tournament. The best teams don't play each other, but they are always fresh and perform when the conference's reputation is on the line. Also, in basketball they do a two-round bye in the Big 10 tourney to rest their best teams.

B12 basketball is entertaining basketball. I think we maybe confuse that with quality basketball.
