I didn’t see it mentioned but John Fogerty should be up there.
First time I ever heard his voice I thought it was a black guy singing.

And you would be wrong...somewhat! I got curious and googled "Best Rock Singer" after reading your post. Guess what, Hendrix is listed on Billboard's list at #3 if you consider singer/frontmen!I've been listening to my Axis Bold As Love LP lately and although he'd never be mentioned on this list I can't imagine Hendrix's music without his unique voice. Also, there needs to more Bob Marley and Glenn Danzig in this thread. C'mon!
Yes, some are good at both like Jagger.John Fogerty is amazing
Brad Delp from Boston
Steve Perry
Those are my best singers. My best front men are Different.
Robert Plant
Zach De la Rocha
Jonathan Davis
Huge difference between beat singer and beat front man
Ann Wilson is up there with Stevie Nicks on my list of female voices. Just amazing.Chris Cornell (saw the 2nd to last show he ever did at Starlight...RIP)
Mercury
Plant
Perry
Winwood (had a very diverse musical career...I'll count him here)
Ann Wilson (Heart)
Klaus Meine (Scorpions)
Lou Gramm (Foreigner)
That's of the top of my head
Wow you nailed it for meLimiting it to post 2000 artists, these are some that come to mind:
Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine
Hailey Williams of Paramore
Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance
Sameer Gahdia of Young the Giant
Matt Bellamy of Muse
Chester Bennington (RIP) of Linkin Park
Brandon Flowers of The Killers
Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy
He’s not a gifted singer, but most of the songs where Keef sang lead were bangers. You Got the Silver, Happy, Before They Make Me Run…
Dan Hartman, Paul Young and Paul Carrack are three of my favorites.Mickey Thomas
Dan Hartman
Gregg Allman
Paul Young
Paul Carrack
Are some of my favorites
Paul Carrack has always given me quasi Steve Winwood vibes.Dan Hartman, Paul Young and Paul Carrack are three of my favorites.
I love Steve Winwood too! Saw him in concert @ Hilton back in the day (early '90s).Paul Carrack has always given me quasi Steve Winwood vibes.
My roommate in college was in vet school and Seger was on constantly. The other memory of that time was the Issue of Play Boy with Shannon Tweed on the coffee table. Bob's music has aged a lot better than Tweed,I have to give a nod to Robert Clark Seger. Such a great unique voice.
Was it Lunatic Fringe?Kind of off topic, but there was this older lady I used to work with, she was kind of crazy and not all there, like she took a bunch of acid in the 60s or something.
We were talking music one day and she said her favorite song was " Lunatic Friend" by Pink Floyd. Lmao. I didn't want to tell her she was way off base in the band and song so I just nodded in agreement and said I liked it also.
