Best Rock Singer

I didn’t see it mentioned but John Fogerty should be up there.

First time I ever heard his voice I thought it was a black guy singing.

Haha I beat you by one post. Fogerty is so good. The best rock story ever is Fogerty getting sued for sounding to much like the lead singer of CCR . They went to court and he. Won because he can’t sound any different than himself

I've been listening to my Axis Bold As Love LP lately and although he'd never be mentioned on this list I can't imagine Hendrix's music without his unique voice. Also, there needs to more Bob Marley and Glenn Danzig in this thread. C'mon!
And you would be wrong...somewhat! I got curious and googled "Best Rock Singer" after reading your post. Guess what, Hendrix is listed on Billboard's list at #3 if you consider singer/frontmen!

John Fogerty is amazing
Brad Delp from Boston
Steve Perry

Those are my best singers. My best front men are Different.

Robert Plant
Zach De la Rocha
Jonathan Davis

Huge difference between beat singer and beat front man
Yes, some are good at both like Jagger.

Chris Cornell (saw the 2nd to last show he ever did at Starlight...RIP)
Mercury
Plant
Perry
Winwood (had a very diverse musical career...I'll count him here)
Ann Wilson (Heart)
Klaus Meine (Scorpions)
Lou Gramm (Foreigner)

That's of the top of my head
Ann Wilson is up there with Stevie Nicks on my list of female voices. Just amazing.

If we're strictly talking rock singers I would take Freddie Mercury or Paul Rodgers.

Janice Joplin
Steve Perry
Lane Staley
Chris Cornell

New and obscure
Daniel Tompkins from Tesseract
Mike Lessard from The Contortionist
Remi Wolf
Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox

Some of all y'all are pretty picky about what rock singers are (Miss Tina is, Elvis is NOT), and this is probably off-topic, but just saw the trailer for this film (available on Prime for $7.99 and Apple TV, soon in theatres - maybe at the Chauncey in Iowa City?)

All things Springsteen just hit me perfectly...so I always elminate him from these types of questions. I think this guy seems like a d-bag to be honest...but I could listen to Sting sing just about any song...he is good! And those who mentioned Stevie Nicks...great call!

I have to give a nod to Robert Clark Seger. Such a great unique voice.
My roommate in college was in vet school and Seger was on constantly. The other memory of that time was the Issue of Play Boy with Shannon Tweed on the coffee table. Bob's music has aged a lot better than Tweed,

Kind of off topic, but there was this older lady I used to work with, she was kind of crazy and not all there, like she took a bunch of acid in the 60s or something.

We were talking music one day and she said her favorite song was " Lunatic Friend" by Pink Floyd. Lmao. I didn't want to tell her she was way off base in the band and song so I just nodded in agreement and said I liked it also.
Was it Lunatic Fringe?

I remember the Wadena Rock Festive summer of 1970. Since the site was right in my county many from my town ventured over for the experience. One of the legends retold was finding a bunch of strung-out, mostly naked, stumbling out of the woods along a county road singing and laughing. They were lost and were asking for directions to "New Woodstock."
