Looking to update our kitchen, looking for stainless steal four piece set (Refrig.oven, dishwasher, microwave. What brand due most cyclone fanatic's have? We have looked at LG, and Samsung, possibly going to look at Maytag & Kenmore.

I don't know about brand but if Nebraska Furniture Mart is in your area I would definitely look there, especially if you are going to finance the purchase. Right now they have 30 months no interest if you use the NFM card.

edit: Looks like the 30 month no interest in not on in Omaha right now because of the BerkHath shareholders meetings this weekend- but looks to be on in Kansas City and Des Moines.

I for one would never buy stainless steel after talking to several of my friends who have them. They almost always look like they need to be cleaned as they show finger prints and smudges so easy.

Sears runs some deals. We just redid our kitchen. Sears price matched their online prices and then were able to give us some of the in store offers on top of that. I am very happy with the appliances and the prices. We have stainless and are happy with it. It is a lot easier to clean than people say. Perhaps it is better than on some older stainless models. Keep in mind that all Kenmore appliances are made by the other manufacturers. Our refrig is an Electrolux, but I believe the rest were made by May tag.
I believe that new models generally come out in May, so you may have already missed a lot of the big sales on the older models.

We have a little bit of everything. Maytag fridge, whirlpool oven, and lg microwave and dishwasher. Maytag and whirlpool both seem better made. The lg stuff seems cheap. All of it is stainless and if we did it again we would go with black. Stainless needs polished everyday.

Year ago we bought a Sears washing machine. Good price. Good sales person. 4 weeks for service when we had a problem. Not going back.

Neb furniture Mart. Just did it a few months ago w/ 30 month no int. Best deal we found in Des Moines

In the past year we've bought Kenmore fridge and oven, stainless from Sears. Happy with both prices. 12 months no interest.

negative

i hardly ever clean mine

and they look 100x better than black or white

My wife really likes to cook so we wanted to get a good high powered gas range but didn't want to pay the prices for names like Wolf. We ended up driving to the appliance barn in Kalona. We bought a Blue Star range that's a very simple stainless design, 22k BTU burners, etc. we ended up getting the dishwasher and fridge at Neb Furniture Mart. Bought a bottom freezer, middle drawer for pop nd such, and French doors. Stainless is the only way to o.

Small sample size, but my sister and brother-in-law installed LG appliances at their home ~10 months ago. The refrigerator has needed repairs twice, and the dishwasher has spent more than 3 months (of that 10) out of commission between repairs.

I don't know if it's a fluke or what, but that alone has made me want to avoid LG.

I've been quite happy with my Samsung electronics.

My two cents.

When we built our house 5 yards ago, we picked ours out at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Prices were decent, and we got Whirlpool. I'll never buy whirlpool again. All 4 have had things go wrong with them. Had maytag in our old house and had them for 8 years and nothing ever went wrong with them. Same company now of course, but I'll definitely choose something else next time.

Sear's was running 30% off on there appliances, so we went with the elite Kenmore's from Sears.

We have a SS cook top and it is a *****. Would go back to white enamel in a heartbeat. With the enamel you just wipe it with a the wet dishcloth and it looks fine. With the SS it leaves water marks and smears so you have to go over it again with a cleaner and paper towels to make it look good.

I have family who have bought everything from both Lowes and American, and both were happy.

Just bought a dishwasher from Nebraska Furniture Mart in DM. It was cheapest place in town for the model I wanted.

I've been generally happy with Sears appliances, but for the past 10 or so years, their salespersons spend 15% of the time selling the product and 85% of the time explaining how poorly they are built, everything that can go wrong with them, and why you need an extended warranty. The last time I was in there, I finally said, "So, you are saying that this model that you recommend is a piece of **** and I can count on it breaking down after one year. Is that what you are saying?"

I've had very good luck with Kenmore over the years especially if you catch a good sale. Generally very good combinations of quality and price. Home Depot or Lowes is a good second choice.

LG's are the same thing as Kenmore.

I believe Whirlpool and Maytag are too now.
