I really think this expansion could backfire for plenty of reasons. It's going to be hot a lot of the season down there. Miami fans are not going to want to sit in that heat, just like they don't like to for other sporting events. Also, unlike previous expansions, Miami is starting to build their fan base mostly from scratch, and I think they'll having a problem doing that. Miami fans are more of band wagon fans than most places, and because of things like the salary cap and expansion drafts, if they have a few bad years, no one will want to go. I also don't think having a large Hispanic population is really that important. If someone likes soccer due to cultural reasons, they are probably either an immigrant, or their parents or grandparents are. If that's the case, they probably have a team in their native country they cheer for, and they aren't going to switch. I hope I'm wrong and it isn't a bust, but I am concerned.
