Beatles new song - Now and Then (2023)

Cool to hear a Beatles song that you haven't heard a million times, not my favorite Beatles song obviously, but I like it.

I'm conflicted when it comes to AI replicating people, but this is pretty cool, knowing it was John actually singing it.

Real Love probably is in my top half of Beatle songs, maybe top third. For whatever reason Free as a Bird got more marketing push, I like it but it seemed a little unfinished vs real love that could’ve been a solid song on any mid to late Beatles album.

I’ll see how this one grows on me.

The Beatles Dethrone Taylor Swift On Spotify

The Beatles are back with their first new single in decades, and their fans are showing up to support the just-released tune. The legendary rock band is proving their power as "Now and Then" arrives on Spotify's rankings of the most-streamed songs all around the planet, and the group has even managed to best the biggest star in the world... at least in one place.

"Now and Then" was the No. 1 most-streamed song in the U.K. on Spotify on Thursday, November 2. The track racked up just under 387,000 streams in less than a full day. It pushes Taylor Swift's new track "Is It Over Now?" down from the top spot. On the same day, that track earned another 383,000 streams.

Never thought I'd be listening to a "brand new" Beatles song. This explains the history of the song and how they did it...

Around the 7-minute mark ... when it isolates John's voice a capella ... I kinda wish that's how the final mix had opened (then add piano for the next segment, and additional parts).

Love the way the video was put together. Technology is amazing.

Actually, I really like the song too. I was pretty apprehensive about it. Free as a Bird and Real Love have grown on me, but I was pretty underwhelmed when they were released.

Quality of the composition...

"Real Love"
"Now and Then"
"Free as a Bird"

Quality of the production...

"Now and Then"
"Free as a Bird"
"Real Love"

I wouldn't mind Paul and Giles going back to John's vocal and piano track for "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" with the same technology. John's vocal track on those first two songs is... okay... you can tell it is him, but very muffled... while it is so clearly him singing to us with the production on "Now and Then."

The 90s songs will always exist in their original forms, but I wonder what they'd sound like with the same level of care and clarity to bring John's performances from eternity the sound that they deserve.
