Bears rookie right tackle
Gabe Carimi will undergo an arthroscopic debridement procedure on his injured right knee, the team announced Friday.
Carimi suffered a partially dislocated knee cap in a Week 2 loss at New Orleans and hasn't played in a game since. He returned to full participation in practice a week ago today for the first time since the injury but then was sidelined the very next day with soreness.
Carimi was scheduled to miss Sunday's Lions game, as the Tribune reported earlier this week. Injured reserve doesn't appear to be an option, but no timetable has been announced for his return.
Converted guard
Lance Louis has played outstanding at right tackle in place of Carimi, which has allowed the Bears to slowly bring Carimi back into action. But any injury at tackle now would force the Bears to turn to
Frank Omiyale, who has struggled in a starting role.
