Recruiting news should start to heat up now that the evaluation period is over and recruits start taking their visits and websites start reporting on them. I thought we had guys like Binardi and someone else coming in before the team leaves for Italy next week and then Samuel, Shepard, Ziegler coming in towards the end of the month.

CW, any news on visitors this weekend or any bball recruiting stories planned?

UPDATE: Brian Bernardi is not visiting this weekend, he is slated to come in later this month. He is visiting Lasalle this weekend. His other visits will be to Fairfield, GW, SMU and Iowa State.

Why are we the only Major team recuritin Bernardi. I don't like this recruit.

Your name says it all.

Lay off. I can see why he'd be concerned. Even though Fred has already shown that he has an unbelievably good eye for recruits its still a little weird to see us mentioned with the likes of those programs. I trust Freddy 100% but it's still weird none-the-less.

As far as I know we have yet to see an actual Fred recruit play a game. How does everyone believe he has this great eye? Once again Cyclone nation rushes to praise, and will just as eagerly rush to scorn if the bottom falls off.

I also hope we fill the last scholarship with someone other than Bernardi. I realize he is a lights out shooter, but that appears to be the only superlative ever used with him. Look at a guy like Webster Chan. You can't teach a long armed 6-7". You also can't teach freak athleticism, and the PG handle is also a little hard to develop in 4 years. You can on the other hand become a better shooter in a shorter amount of time. Chan can play 3-4 positions and guard all of them effectively. Bernardi can play one, and I have never heard that he has the ability to shut down any position on D. Those are problems.

Niang blew up and Thomas has blown up both after Fred offered. Saying "I don't like this recruit" is different than just saying you might prefer another guy.

We may be rushing to praise but we are rushing to praise for a good reason. Niang has proven that he is much better than his ranking and Fred locked him in BEFORE he blew up over the AAU scene. He has been called one of the most underrated players in the 2012 class.

The Niang situation and the Bernardi situation are different. Niang didn't have any offers before the AAU evaluation period. We are Bernardi's only offer after the AAU evaluation period. I don't know much about Bernardi besides being a shooter but I don't think his offer is unconditional. I think we are waiting to see what direction a few recruits go before Bernardi can commit.

What schools are recruiting Ziegler and who appears to be out front for his services?

So far it remains to be seen on the court at the D1 level, but you have to give credit that at a minimum, Fred is identifying talent before most other schools. Getting in on some of these guys BEFORE they blow up can be a difference maker in their decision making process.

If Fred can take his next team or two to the tourney, he will become a recruiting force that can compete with anyone outside of UNC, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc.

If we get bernardi then we missed on our main targets for that scholly. NWC and Kale are our two main targets. Everyone wants Niang. Nobody but low teams want Bernardi and that is after the AAU evaluations.

I have read on other sites that we aren't actively pursuing KA anymore and that he is more likely to end of at iowa or creighton than here. Don't know if this is true, but it would seem as if NWC and Dorsey-Walker are higher on our list than Kale.

I wouldn't count out Central Michigan, since his brother Trey is there, and his dad is the coach.

I checked on rivals and they had

Michigan- they have been loading up recently.

MSU - always loaded

Indiana - current #1 class in 2012, already have 2 commits in 2013 at the same position as Zeiger.

CMU - family

ISU

That couldn't be any more wrong.

Based on what I have seen, Sherron Dorsey Walker appears to be the top target, and I don't know after that.
