MLB: Baseball Tonight

Used to live for the show...but after I realized that the Twins highlights -- even when in first place -- were hardly more than a 15 spot in the third block without the Yankees or Red Sox being the opponent soured me.

Great show though if you love New York, Boston or the Cubs.

That's garbage...

They already have ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, and ESPNnews...they might as well just come out with a ESPNdrama that is 24 hours of gossip about roids, contract negotiations, injury reports, "will he or won't he" retire, etc...

Yup. Seems like the last year and a half to two years things have gone way down hill, especially with the "rumor reporting" that seems to go on. Maybe I just can't remember, but I thought at one point in time it was actually a quality show that could cover the league using substance and not hyped up rumors and pandering to the Yankee/Sox and Cubs obsession that dominates now.

same as sports center a few years back 99% on Kobe, rest was done by John Moschitta to get the other 20 minutes in 2 minutes

just incase you do not know who he is:

I'll be watching MLB network version of Baseball Tonight on DirecTV.

I like Reynolds even if he plays a little grab-*** now and again.

I hardly watch ESPN anymore besides for games. The MLB Network is so much better than BBTN. They have 1 hour previews of every team, even the Pirates. I bet ESPN won't talk about the Pirates for a total 5 minutes over the course of the season.

ESPN will be fall of here own demise.... All New england glory and who cares unless its Patriots, Lakers (I know not a NE team but if Kobe does something it gets front line), Red Socks, Yankees being the number 1 talk about sport teams

I have totally given up on Baseball Tonight as well. My sports world sucks being both a Pirates fan and Cyclones fan.

I still DVR it then fastforward through all the crap...

I am suprised how many Pirates fans are in Iowa... I work with a handfull and seem to meet them everywhere...

The MLB network will be worths its weight in gold. Cox carries it here in Omaha and it has some great shows. I work evenings so I havent seen their version of Baseball Tonight, but I am sure it will be a lot better than ESPN. Right now they show a lot of good historical games. The Sandberg Game, Joe Carter's home run, Don Larson's perfect game are just a few I have watched. If you have the MLB Network, you may not even have to watch much ESPN this summer.

Why DOESN'T mediacom carry MLB? They don't have the crazy pricing demands that NFL or Big 10 have, they don't mind being on a teir, and all the other carriers have it...

They've been showing a lot of preseason games, especially Twins games. If this continues throughout the season MLB Network WILL be worth its weight in gold.

First you have to assume that the people that run that company know what their customers want, and more importantly, what those customers are willing to pay for.

This is the same company that kept the BTN off the air until it hand was forced by the BTN picking up the Iowa/ISU game last season. Mediacom didn't have a choice but to pick up the channel.

But none of that applies to Mediacom, which is why they don't carry MLB, CSN or anything else that baseball fans in this town want. The fact that I could drive an hour or so east of Des Moines and get both of those channels is the worst part. How is Cedar Rapids more of a Cubs market than Des Moines?

I'm pretty sure the only live games they will be showing will be on Saturday nights, so that's kinda lame, but I guess they plan on doing a lot of live look-ins during the week because they've installed cameras in cool angles at every major league park
