Bars by Kinnick

No but you can park in the ramp near downtown and take the bus to the game. This is what we always do and it works great. The Fieldhouse is close to the ramp.

I guess it depends on what you define as walking distance. Downtown Iowa City is about a 12-15 minute walk from Kinnick (depends on location DT), so I would consider that walking distance.

yes, all of downtown IC is across the river from kinnick. If you don't mind walking a alf mile-ish it's definitely do able.

Might I recommend Fieldhouse, Brother's, DC's, Sports Column, or Bo James. All are in or adjacent to the Ped mall. All great bars to watch the game from and have some decent deals on beer.

Good luck this weekend, but not too much luck!

Both these places are horrible, especially if you are planning on wearing Cyclone clothing.

Watch the game? He asked about walking from Kinnick so obviously he is planning to go to the game. Why would he go to IC to watch the game in a bar full of Hawk fans? Dumb.

The fan who couldn't get tickets to a sold-out game and have no money for inflated scalper prices.

Seriously, I have watched many ISU/Iowa games on television, even when I lived in IC. And I consider myself a self-respecting fan.

Nice attempt to pigeon hole people into a category. You may be a fan, but you aren't much of a person.

The kind that can't justify spending $100+ on a ticket.

As a 23 year old living in Iowa City, I will go on record saying that Fieldhouse, Brothers and Sports Colum suck. Bo James and DC's are great, Joe's Place and The Airliner are fun, Martini's may be fun for a game. Avoid Vito's like its the plague. There is also a Buffalo Wild Wings down there.

Are there any bars walking distance to Kinnick?

Nope. Iowa City sucks. You have to walk through crowds of people for 25 minutes, across a river, through a forest, up a mountain, and then youre finally downtown. Not really, but even when completely drunk, it takes a for freakin ever.

I've done the walk from the tailgates to the bars a couple times, and it does suck. A bunch of obnoxious dumb ***** also make the trek...

Brothers is the worst bar in the entire world. You can smell the date rape exuding from it. Plus it'll be full of the worst tavern hawks in Iowa City. Fieldhouse isn't much better. Can't argue with the other bars though. I'd toss in Joe's Place and the Airliner as well. My personal favorite bar in the ped mall is Donelly's, but while I am sure they will have the game on, they aren't exactly a sports bar.

There is always Buffalo Wild Wings too. Though you might have to get there the moment they open to get a seat.

No one should go to Brothers, ever.

Yes, I wouldn't step foot into the Fieldhouse if you are wearing an ISU shirt. I don't know if you would have problems, but I just wouldn't take that chance.

All the bars are essentially within blocks of each other, and all are a 15-20 minute walk (depending on the crowds and traffic) from the stadium.
