My wife and I moved from Des Moines to Oklahoma almost 2 years ago after spending 10 years in Des Moines after graduating from ISU. We definitely miss it (except for the cold weather) and hope to get back in the coming years.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how Des Moines and the metro has changed.

Who doesn’t? The OP went to ISU in the PBT’s heyday. There are like 12,000 more people on campus now a days to ruin all the best poop spots.
