Has there been any comments from the asst. coaches? Were they caught off guard like the players? I'm sure he spoke to the ones he wants to take with him... but what happens to the coaches he doesn't want? As an assistant I'm sure it'd be a career derailer if Chizik asks you come with him and you say "screw you"... but wouldn't it be great if an asst. stood up and say that while Chizik had every right to move on, he didn't have to do it the way he did .... and he especially didn't need to simply abandon the players. I hope of couple of the coaches (i.e. Pelton and Sheppard) are able to stick around with whomever the next coach is... so the players don't feel completely abandoned.

It will be very interesting to se what assistants Chizik does approach. If he doesn't take Bolt and McFarland after getting them to accept demotions then I can see some real feuds brewing and those two will be asking "Do you want fries with that?" If he does take them, I can see the Auburn fans really getting nasty the first time he loses. I thought Chizik was smarter than to paint himself into a corner.

I really like the strength coach, and hope we can hold on to him.

I agree. I like the special teams coach too. He really has some fire in his belly. Granted our coverage could be a little better, but our kick return game was top notch. Notice I say kick return and not punt return.......:wideeyed:

I can't see any self-respecting coach, including Chizik, taking a job without having the sole right to select his staff. I just can't see it.

Anyone who know anything about S&C know Sheppard is a joke. Just like Chizik, it's easy claiming success with athletes when they're 5 stars in Texas. They need to bring McGettigan back tomorrow, no matter who the coach is. His programming was educated and he was demanding. He's a true Cyclone.

I'm sure you know more than me and I'm sure you are somehow closer to the situation. (That was your first post and I'm sure it's emotionally charged)

But, the way the team and most specifically the line changed in physique was obvious over the last two years. You may be very warranted in your claim but I will take our current line physique vs. the previous 2 years of tubs o' goo. Maybe that wasn't McGettigan's fault, but there was no excuse for the giant slow lines that Mac used in his last year or two. These guys appear to be light years quicker and stronger. Like I said, you may know more, and I could be wrong though.

Delt, that was due to more of Barney Cotton's ways than McGettigans...I promise you. Yes this is my first post, as an alum and someone who knows the man personally and knows the S&C profession. Remember, McGettigan was still the strength coach when Steve Loney was around...and our linemen were DOMINANT.
