Positives:
1. A WIN!!! A road one at that! I think this was one of those games that going into it the negatives were far out numbering the positives in terms of outcome. So to get the win and escape is awesome.
2. Hamilton continues to impress and his confidence it building. Heck he even took a shot outside his norm granted it was not a very desirable but it went in! 6 pts, 7 rebs, 3 blks with zero turnovers.
3. Came out of the game strong building a nice lead. Started the 2nd half well and managed to offset the lack luster final minutes of the 1st half. Unfortunately we will talk about this in the bottom of this post.
4. Out rebounded a team...something that has not been done lately. Heck in Big 12 play we are winning the rebound margin game! We have improved this aspect the most over the last two weeks. Its very encouraging!!!
5. Staying out of foul trouble. This is one area that this team has done very well and probably is one of the greatest strengths. Hopefully its not a sign of lack of aggressiveness and it just shows that they dont pick up the silly fouls.
Negatives
1. Let them back in the game the final minutes of the 1st Half. ISU had a chance to really take charge and dominate this game. It would have been great but a win is a win.
2. Shot selection at times was questionable. This wasn't a huge issue but a few shots were taken that you need to make sure are good looks. This gets magnified when games are close.
3. Terrible entry passes, numerous times the post was there but the entry pass was coming from a terrible angle. Sometimes its the post player not sealing but it seems that our post guys are now playing much more physical. If we get the wing to take one dribble or pass to the wing and enter the ball we wont have those 4-6 turnovers and possessions with no shot.
4. Basketball IQ was not great or maybe its just the mental area of the game. Lucca needed to grab that rebound off the free throw and take the foul. Guys need to know the situation at the end of the game, up three with fouls to give.
5. Losing Booz might be a bigger loss than the 7-10 minutes he was getting. Is it possible that the 7th or 8th man might be one of the most valuable? I really like Scotty's game but I dont think he brings the same energy Booz did. Maybe when Colvin returns this wont hurt as much as it does now.
Lets keep this rolling, it has felt great and we need this win Wednesday night. I predict this might be the game that Brackins really gets the scoring back on track and busts out!!!!
