The USA women’s roster includes Cierra Burdick, Lauren Cox, Ashley Joens and Hailey Van Lith. Coached by Kara Kawson.

I turned on at the times they stated and missed them each time. And I did factor in the EST vs. CST.

Does Ashley look a little more cut in the 3 v 3 images compared to last season?

For sure looks leaner, surprisingly so considering it's only been a couple of months. Maybe getting in true pro shape now. It's part of how Bridget Carleton is sticking with the Lynx. She got leaner and is in better shape, not me just popping off, Lynx folks have discussed it. Per Lynx announcers, a bit quicker and faster because of it especially on defense. Not as dramatic a change as her teammate Sheppard made by any means, more going from college star shape to pro play shape.

Watched a couple of their games before taken down. To be blunt, I thought the Iowa State 3x3 team played better as a team - sharing, hitting the open player, effort to get to the ball on scramble plays, etc.

My observations?
1. The little USA guard #9...there's not a shot she doesn't like to take...and struggles.
2. This is a foul a minute environment. You'd best get used to be hacked all the time.
3. Quick shots are valued over good shots.
Hailey Van Lith of Louisville, Instagram sensation, seems determined to shoot Team USA right out of the tournament.

Pool play for the USA team start early Wednesday morning (5:20 am Iowa time as I understand). I believe the link below will take you to the YouTube site where the games are being streamed. The commentary appears to be in English. For the U18 Americas 5 on 5 games the commentary was in Spanish. That was entertaining but I could only pick out a word every once in a while - my failing.

I watched a little of the play in Voiron, France this weekend. The French commentary was a treat for me. Out of nowhere they would excitedly shout an American phrase. The most memorable was after a block they went "Ohhh, Not in my house baby!" And immediately went back to French, was very funny.
