Article about Jeff Grayer's two sons

Hmmm......I don't know anything about his two sons, but Kevin certainly sounds like he could help us in the backcourt, while Jeff jr sounds like he's still transitioning from frontcourt to backcourt. I bet they're both fine individuals like their father. Maybe they'll want to follow dad to Ames.

Interesting that their head coach was a guy that Grayer helped take down in 86. Former Michigan player Antoine Joubert was a member of the team that Grayer and Co. took down in 86 to advance to the Sweet 16...

I personally think it would be really cool if we had the two Grayer kids to go with their dad. How many years would that have if they did wind up at ISU?

One of my favorite stories was when a short pastey white freshman from Michigan State named Scotty Skiles was guarding the highly aclaimed (and somewhat heavy) Antoine Joubert as he was bringing the ball up the court and Skiles said "come on fat boy, show me what you got." I love little guys like Skiles who played with no fear whatsoever. Sort of like Pedroia in baseball.

Joubert had some hair back in the day!

I would conclude they will walk on at ISU???

With no offers, I would assume they would walk on at ISU. We need the bodies and they would still be close by to let their father watch them play.

If we have extra scholly's them they might get one??

No inside info, just my guess.

My question is, if they are AT ALL good, then why are they JuCo's?

Finally someone around here speaking some sense! Thats exactly what I was thinking when we signed those bums Tinsley and Gilstrap. WHat ever happened to those Dbags?!?! :pconfused:

Precisely. It drives me nuts when people rag on someone for being a Juco. There's PLENTY of talent in the junior colleges and kids have a plethora of different reasons of why they're there. I would love to see these 2 follow their father and walk on.

I remember that game so well. And the boys coach now..... He was part of the inspiration for ISU with all his trash talk before the game.I think Johnny used Ron Virgil to guard him and that was part of the key to winning. Some of us had nicknamed him TOOHAH (talkin outa his &%$^*@$#)

If the head coach can't recruit his own son to come and play for him at ISU I don't think there is much hope that he will be able to recruit one or two of the assistant coach's sons.

Did GMAC recruit his son?

Apples don't usually fall far from the tree. His dad played at UNI....coached at UNI and probably had some of the best times of his life at UNI. Why go to a school where the only thing your dad has done in four years is collect a paycheck....and a truck load of criticism?

would they have to walk on or be offered a scholly? i thought if a parent was an employee, their child got a free ride anyway? would make sense then that they could be a part of the team without wasting a schollie on either?

Looking at the steals, it looks like they can play some D. Kevin avg like 2.8 steals & Jeff 1.8. Obviously a different level but we need all the help we could get.
