Anyone heard if we are getting these in the Jack?

I don't know if it is any indication, but our logo is not shown on the website. At the moment, they have about 25 college teams, and 5 NFL teams. Maybe they are doing some test markets and will add more later?

I'm not sure how this can be live and not delayed, as there is always a delay.

I think that these are intended for in the stadium. I would guess that they pick up the feed directly from the booth considering they claim it to be live. Clear Channel is still a couple of seconds behind. I doubt that you could pick up the feed from outside of the vicinity of the stadium.

From their website...

"The radio will work at all the home and away games of your Home Team. Each season a new radio will be available as the FCC-licensed frequencies that are used for the broadcast will change depending upon the team’s schedule.
The LSR will continue to work as an FM scan radio on an ongoing basis; however, the “event” radio mode will only work for the current season."

This is what it sounds like to me as well. I'm guessing that there is a transmitter somewhere in the stadium that broadcasts a signal just weak enough that they don't have to get a license from the FCC (usually weak enough you can't get it more than 2 miles away).

Most of the delay in the other radio is with the waves having to travel lone distances and with the relay. This would essentially eliminate the both. There wouldn't be any more of a delay then the delay on the videoboard.

If I travel to an away game of my Home Team, will I be able to hear the broadcast on my radio?
  • Yes, the radio will work at all of the Home and Away games of your Home Team, the E1 pre-set frequency is for the Home games and E2 to E5 are for the Away games.

In other words you can't sit in your living room and listen to an away game. You have to be in the stadium, it just doesn't matter if it is the home stadium or away stadium.

By law, the Event Channels (E1 to E5 on which you will listen to your Home Announcers with no delay) are broadcast on low power.
You should have no problems receiving the signal in your stadium seat, but reception of these channels will diminish as you leave the area; however, the radio will pick up other FM stations wherever they are normally heard.

Just like I thought, it is broadcasted in the stadium area only, but since it uses a FM channel, it is possible you may pick up another station when you get away from the stadium.

Forget the radio broadcasts, we could use these for the PA announcements. It might be cheaper than spending millions to bring the sound system up to functional status.
