Just got in my car last night and caught the last 30 seconds on XM channel 91 but was wondering if anyone listened or if there was a link to listen online? Anyone have a summary? Thanks!

I caught it. Usual Fred speak about the program & his relationship with Ames and all the transfer talk. Coach K is an awkward interviewer when he interviews other coaches. For example, K asking Fred about his offensive style, when Coach K knows the answer already. I may have missed this or may be too young to know that Coach K turned down the Iowa State job before offered to Johnny.

Interviewers asking questions they all ready know the answer to is the norm. Most times questions are scripted through publicists notes or pre interviews by show producers. The questions prompt the conversation. Of course Freds story has to make for a pretty easy interview. Unfortunately for Cyclone fans it's gotten a little stale listening to Fred give pretty much the same interview over and over.

I guarantee that coach K was fighting the urge to ask questions like:
"What is it like to be so hot?"
"Any advice for other coaches on how to be more dreamy?"
"Can you take your shirt off for the radio audience?"

I do remember hearing/reading about this. Add this to a long list of what could have been in Ames. However, that said Johnny rebuilt the excitement of Iowa State. I'm not so sure Coach K would have been able to pull the same type of recruits to Ames in the mid-80s like he was on the east coast.

If you want to bring up old memories. Let's bring up Dr. Tom Davis being the head coach for the Boston College point shaving scandal team in the late 70's and one of his players being Bruce Pearl a few years later. Bruce has been around a lot of shaddy business in collegiate basketball..

Sirius/XM online app (web or mobile phone) has a lot of content as On Demand - in the app on my phone, I went to Shows & On Demand, Shows By Name, Basketball & Beyond and it was the first episode available for download.

SiriusXM's app has gotten better over the years. The streaming is killer (when working) - works like a DVR. It allows me to rewind to the beginning of a show and from there I can fast forward past commercials. I use it a lot when driving, working out, etc. - I pause and resume on my schedule. Probably wouldn't listen to nearly as much O&J, Jim Norton Advice Show, or Weird Medicine without the app!

The way I understood it, Bobby Knight talked him out of taking the job. Coach K had a connection to someone in Ames or at ISU. I believe Eddie Sutton was also in the mix, but the administration was concerned about his off the court issues. Let's all just be grateful that they called to get permission to talk to Frieder and Johnny decided he wanted the job!

I hope this is a step towards a home and home with Duke.

ok, one can dream.

Coach K tends to interview the who's who of basketball coachesl. Just another example of how big time Fred has become.

ISU is never going to pull the 5 star guys the blue bloods do. But having what amounts to first choice of the transfer market puts us on a equal footing with them. Plus they normally get a year in the program learning the system. So you have what amounts to a development program, without using up eligibility.

Never say never with Fred Hoiberg at the helm.

Here are a couple questions Coach K should have asked:
1. Do you want to do a home/home?
2. How many years do you think you should be the head coach at ISU before they put your name on the court, just like mine is at Duke?
