Anybody else..

i want scottie to shoot after the O has gone thru royce -- i do not want scottie driving deep and throwing the ball away again and again

Now THIS is criticism I can agree with. I don't have a problem with Scotty creating his own shot on occasion, but it should be mixed into a primary strategy of Royce distributing the ball.

Of course, with Royce's turnovers in the 2nd half, maybe this wasn't such a bad idea. I don't know, hell it's all hindsight anyway.

They would foul Royce.

Or he would throw the ball away trying to make a killer pass. I think he's a good distributor, but dude is no Jacy Holloway with the rock. Of course, he wasn't recruited as a PG, so I'm not going to bust his onions over that weakness in his game.

I like Royce running the offense 80% of the game. In crunch time, I think it needs to be in Scott's hands.

CFH cannot put the ball in the basket for his players. He cannot catch the ball for them. He cannot tell the other team to ease up on D.

Some thoughts to add to the discussion...

1. Missouri came out playing good defense on our outside shots which is why Royce get some action in the paint early as well as down the stretch. This resulted in Royce getting guarded harder in the 2nd, which is when scotty should have held a bigger roll and kicked it into gear. Was it Fred's fault that ISU couldn't close? Absolutely. These kids need some direction when it comes to closing big games. Yes, they have been successful in a few big games this season but that isn't a testimant to how we'll play in the tourney.

The success of ISU against Baylor and in the tourney will depend on 1 thing. That is which ISU team will show up, one with confidence and good leadership or one thas is disorganized and uninspired. This all depends on Fred!

I couldn't agree with you more GorgeousGeorges. Your interpretation of the actuality of the situation of discussion is just flabbergasting. You have great diction and your vocabulary is just off the charts.
:notworthy:

I would agree with you on this particular game. I think Fred was outcoached most of the 2nd half tonight... but especially late in the game. Our offense got completely out of whack, and Scotty all of the sudden thought he was Magic Johnson or something by handling the ball the whole time.

Scotty thought he was playing Cap City ball. Thinking he was Magic, also a good analogy

I'd take Scotty over Royce with the game on the line.

I'd agree with you in most situations but Mizzou's guards just ate Scotty up tonight. Against their guards I'd rather find ways to set Scotty up off the ball then have it in his hands. The last few minutes of the game speak for themselves.

I also agree with the OP and Gorgeous. I thought Fred was really outcoaching Haith there. Especially considering Personel. We were getting a lot of good looks off of various set plays and plays I thought I'd never seen before. However, we have too many offensive weapons to have Scottie taking so many shots down the stretch when he's been cold the whole game.

No, Mizzou just buckled down on D. Give them credit, they are very good. Not every game can be explained by coaching. We just aren't athletic enough in the backcourt to match up with a team like Mizzou at this point. Mizzou is probably the best example of how not having a PG can be a problem.

Amen
