I'm hoping all the stars are lined up next weekend. A national championship will make up for not getting the outright Big12 title. Got to believe!

I'm predicting runner up. I think Iowa is just too strong this year for us to try and out score them.
Yes they are next weekend. On CloneChronicles, I will write a preview when the seedings are announced, FWIW.
This is an outstanding opportunity to grab a national championship, with all 10 wrestlers participating. I hope Cael can motivate the guys to grab this thing.
I am predicting a 2nd place finish and hoping for a 1st. To get the NC we are going to have to wrestle with a fire that I am yet to see from many of these wrestlers in their career. We have the ability to win the NC but that is a completely different thing than having the heart to win it. I hope we do and I am not trying to bash the team but they are yet to prove that they have what it takes when the pressure is on.
We dont score bonus points that is killer Metcalf will score as much as our top 2 guys that sucks!
If Iowa get there kids to wrestle close to their seeds we cant win because of bonus points.

Here is how ISU wins a National Championship:
a) Varner and Big Z must win it all. It will be a tough Tournament, but both of these guys should walk away with Titles. ISU needs both of these guys to win it all and they should.
b) ISU needs these guys to make some real noise: Clark, Fanthorpe, Gallick, Sanderson or Reader - I believe these (5) wrestlers will be the key. All (5) are more than capable of beating their Hawkeye counterpart and advancing deep into the tournament. At least (1) needs to make the Finals and (4) of these guys need to be All-Americans.
c) The remaining weights must get some points. Mueller, Burk, and Ward must get some points. Each wrestler has shown great potential and could get HOT and make it a long ways.

Z has the best chance of all the heavyweights because he has the best motor and this tournament is intense. But I won't call it.
We'll have 6 All-Americans. One of last year's 6 won't repeat. Clark has the best shot to be a new All-American but Mueller should feel a fire burning under his heels. If he doesn't make All-American than he may get replaced next year by Dalton Jensen (or maybe better yet by moving Sanderson back to 149 and letting Carr in at 157).

My feelings exactly, it seems as though we choke more in wrestling than any other sport when you look at our national credentials. Just once it would be nice to live up to or exceed our expectations but it won't happen.
Oh, you mean like 2 years ago when we put three in the finals including an unseeded Backes and a true freshman in Varner? We clearly exceeded expectations that season.
