Anthony Tucker - done?

IOWA’S TUCKER WILL MISS SECOND SEMESTER

IOWA CITY, Iowa - - University of Iowa freshman guard Anthony Tucker will miss the second semester of the 2008-09 season due to being ruled ineligible in accordance with Big Ten Conference academic requirements. The announcement came from Hawkeye Coach Todd Lickliter Wednesday.

“Since the conclusion of the first semester, Anthony has been involved in an appeal process concerning his academic course work,” said Lickliter. “We have been informed that the appeal process has been completed and Anthony is not eligible, by Big Ten Conference standards, to compete during the spring semester.”

Tucker (6-4, 200) joined the Iowa program after a prep career at Minnetonka, MN HS. He started eight of the 14 games he has played. He is averaging 10.4 points and three rebounds per game. Tucker is shooting 43.8% from the field, including 42.7% from three-point range.

Tucker scored a career-high 24 points in a loss to West Virginia and recorded his only double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Southeast Missouri State. He scored in double figures in eight games.

Wow! He must be REALLY dumb:yes:.

The implosion on the Hawk BB boards is every bit as entertaining as on here about the future of their program.

Will be interesting to see which program gets out of the mud first.

Maybe I'll go all in on the 2.5 pt spread tonight then. Man they really are getting fed a crap sandwich lately over east....

I wonder how much his academic woes are Mono related. My daughter missed a lot of school with Mono last year. Thank God it was only 3rd grade.

I can understand that the first year of college may be an adjustment for some. That being said, athletes have at their disposoal a slew of tudors, resources, etc...Plus, the guy is undecided on a major, which I assume means he is taking fluff courses until he absolutely has to take meaniful classes. It's pretty inexcusable and if I am a regular paying student I'd be pretty peeved since he's given a free ride, books, housing, tudors....

Good god man...come on! College isn't that hard. This idiot needs to get his *** out of the bar and into the library. Hopefully Lick gives him another shot..

This kid read the Carlton Reed book on playing basketball at the University of Iowa. First get arrested. Second fail all classes. Third get DQ'd for second semester.

How long does it take for Iowa to get their grades? We had our grades out Christmas Eve. I assume that there was some kind of appeals process but shouldn't he have been ineligible during this time?

Aren't there eligibility requirements for remaining a student?? I'm pretty sure those grades (at least at ISU) would get you kicked out for be academically ineligible - to be a student!

Lickliter seems like a guy who would be pretty strict about this stuff, so idk if he will give him another chance..... even though he is a hawk, i still dont like to see a kids playing career at a big school get shut down like this.

it is his second strike technically
