How did they get permission to wear the ISU patch? That seems like the sort of thing that the trademark nazis would never allow. Maybe they gave ISU a cut of the ticket sales.
They do it every year, then auction the jerseys off during the game. The winners pay and pick them up after the game. Not sure on all the legalities, but they also have uni and iowa night.
My dad and step-mom have been a host family for the Kernels for about 10 years. They said the ISU alumni association sponsors the jerseys and the money raised goes to them. Not sure what "cost" is on them, but minimum bid is $75 per jersey and they are all gobbled up. One of Royce Lewis' jerseys on one of the auction nights last year went for almost $1500.
Wow. That is great. Now I have to take back all those nasty things I was thinking about the trademark nazis.
